The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
The Côte d'Azur, ( "Azure Coast"), often known in English as the French Riviera is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, also including the sovereign state of Monaco. There is no official boundary, but it is usually considered to extend from the Italian border in the east to Saint Tropez, Hyères, Toulon or Cassis in the west. This coastline was one of the first modern resort areas. It began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century. In the first half of the 20th century it was frequented by artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edith Wharton, Somerset Maugham and Aldous Huxley, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II it became a popular tourist destination and convention site. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region.
The French Riviera surrounds the principality of Monaco with a total population of over two million. It also contains the seaside resorts of Cap-d'Ail, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Cannes, Saint-Raphaël, Fréjus, Sainte Maxime and Saint-Tropez. As a tourist centre it benefits from 300 days of sunshine per year, 115 kilometres (71 mi) of coastline and beaches, 18 golf courses, 14 ski resorts and 3,000 restaurants.
Nice, the fifth largest city in France, acts as a magnet attracting people from all over the world, for a multitude of reasons both elegant and simple, Nice's charm comes from its exceptional climate as well as its beauty. Even in the winter the cafe terraces are filled with people happily drinking and contemplating the ultra famous Promenade des Anglais. Always in flower this wonderful walk follows along the bay, looking out onto the Baie des Anges and the beaches on one side, and on the other such luxury hotels as the Negresco.Nice is also a city of art and culture and after Paris, has the most museums in France Characterized by an abundance of beautiful Art Deco, Belle Epoque and grand Bourgeois buildings, Nice and surrounding areas also hold a huge number of events and festivals through out the year, some of the most popular ones include:
January - New Year Concert (Nice Acropolis)
February - Nice Carnival and the Menton Fete du Citron
March - The Boat Show (Nice Port) and the Paris-Nice International Cycling Race
April - Monaco Masters Tennis Tournament
May - Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival
June - Sacred Music festival (Churches in the old town) and Street Music festivals
July - The Nice and Juan-les-Pins Jazz Festivals, Bastile day celebrations/fireworks
August - Evening open-air Music Concerts in Nice, Baroque musical performances in the Chateau grounds
September - The Market of traditional arts and craft (Nice old town), Monaco Boat Show
October - Festival of Sainte Reparate in Nice old town
November - Furniture and decoration fair (Nice Acropolis) and the MAMAC modern music festival
December - Christmas Markets and celebrations (Place Massena)
The Quartier Musiciens (Musician's Area) is one of the more residential sectors of Nice. Situated between the bustling Avenue Jean Medecin to the east, the main SNCF train station to the north, Boulevard Gambetta to the west and the ever elegant Boulevard Victor Hugo to the south, this area is central, well-kept and perfect for those who want their apartment in a stylish residential quarter. The quarter takes its name from the fact that its streets and squares are called after famous musicians, such as Rossini, Verdi and Mozart.

What a wonderful find! We stayed here for our Honeymoon and were absolutely delighted! After picking the keys up from the airport the apartment was a short taxi ride away (€25, though we could've taken the bus) and situated a 10 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of of the Promenade des Anglais. It is immaculately clean and tastefully decorated throughout. The welcome pack was perfect, with all the necessities required to get you through until your first shop. The local rosé was a particularly nice touch and ensured we made full use of the balcony within half an hour of arriving! The kitchen has everything you need and meant that we could stay in some evenings to cook; making use of the delicious local ingredients. The wifi was easy to connect to and was handy to use for booking tickets, checking the weather (we had a couple of rainy days) and checking opening times. Not that we had time to use them, but there is also a decent selection of books and DVDs.
Located in the Musiciens quarter it is peaceful in the evenings and only really gets busy or noisy at work 'rush hour' times, which for a city apartment was expected. It is just far away enough to be ideal for quiet nights in and only a short tram/bus ride or walk to the beach, central Nice and the old town.
The nearby shops cater for all of your needs with boulangers, patisseries, mini-markets, bar/tabacs, restaurants and a pharmacy all within a 5 min walk. The neighbours were also really friendly. We could happily move here on a permanent basis!
Many thanks for your kind review,so pleased that the apartment met with your expectations.Hopefully we will welcome you back soon.

"October in Nice"
The rental appartment was in the North west of Nice, in a residential area. The apartment was on the second floor, there was a lift, the circulation aeras were clean and in good repair. The apartment was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and had a balcony off the living room where we often ate.
Cafe's were close by for breakfast, usually 7-8 EU, but we did not eat locally in the evening. We tended to head for the Old Town which meant a hike of 25 mins, tiring on the way back.
The only slight problem we encountered was external scooter and motorbike noice in the early hours: nothing to do with the apartment but Nice is noisey if you are on a main road.
Thank you for your positive comments and appreciate you taking the time to post this review.I would just like to add however that the apartment is located in central Nice in the Musciens Quarter and the Old Town can be easily reached on the tramway 10 minutes walk from the apartment. There are also many good restaurants in nearby Massena.
