La Barchetta 1 bed Nice by sea
from £71 /night help
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 3
This is a smart 1960's purpose built block of apartments, all with terraces and central hot water and heating. The building is entered by a large marble foyer with two lifts available. Situated on the second floor, the Living Room, Kitchen and Bedroom all open onto the terrace through large glass doors. The floors are marble tiled and parquet in the bedroom. The whole place was refurbished by an Italian company when I purchased it, to a high standard and has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with separate toilet. Walls are painted in soft pastels or white providing a clean relaxed ambiance. Simply furnished in imported 1970's Californian Lucite furniture, the light is reflected throughout. This will be my home in retirement so is really a' home from home'. The location is one block in from the sea, off Promenade des Anglais, in a quiet little road away from the flowing traffic. There is no private parking but there are some free spaces underneath although very popular!. Place Massena and old town are about 20 mins. walk .Rue de France is immediately behind with baker, butcher and supermarket. This road is lined with restaurants and interesting shops all the way through to Place Massena and the tramway.

Please note the sofa bed is across the apartment in the living area and is completely separate from the main bedroom. T
There is Mobile Air condiitoning in the Bedroom only. Fan in the main living area.
Please be aware that although this property is situated in a quiet impasse, it is none-the-less in a city centre and thus can still be subject to normal city noise on the peripherals. Even a quiet city location can never be that country cul-de-sac in the home counties!!
|Further details outdoors|
Just to add there is a small table and two chairs on the terrace for the morning coffee, chilled lunchtime rosé or perhaps that evening Martini. There is an electric grill for cooking al fresco. The entire terrace is lined with plants providing privacy and a touch of nature. The plants get thirsty too so dont forget to give them some water; Thanks. Love my plants and they will love you back!
THERE IS £50 CHARGE FOR CLEANING;
Naturally you wil find iron and ironing board, hairdryer and numerous other items of use in the cupboards. This is my part time home and is equipped accordingly for full time living.
A deposit of 30% is required to hold dates and this is non refundable upon cancellation - sorry, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
There is a deposit of £250 (cheque) upon arrival to cover damage and this will be destroyed upon cleaning if all is in order.
The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
Nice is known for its hot summers on the beach and mild sunny days in the winter. Amazing architecture and wonderful restaurants make this an ever popular spot for tourists. Beautiful stretch of coast from St. Tropez to Monaco. There is never enough time to see the whole of this breathaking region. In 1 - 2 hours drive you can reach the Mercantour for walking or raquetting or generally just to enjoy the mountains.
Apart from the obvious beach activities there are many museums, galleries and designer shops in Nice itself. Just wondering the streets to admire the architecture and to stop for a cup of coffee/lunch can fill a whole day. In February there is the carnival but most weekends in the summer there are special events on the promenade which is a haven for cyclists, joggers and bladers. Just a short drive up into the hills gives the most wonderful coastal views and an insight into the luxurious villas hidden away behind trees. Christmas is magical with many extra attractions. There is a shop just in the next road where you can hire pedal bikes and motorised scooters to explore the area.

Happy New Year! I can agree that its a great area for local shops - you can pop out in your slippers for bread and milk. Rue de France provides you with every little shop/restaurant you can imagine all the way to Place Massena. Yes, marvellous for the airport bus stop too - virtually right outside. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay so much.

Security is a pretty major issue for many staying so I am pleased that you have mentioned this. I came living alone in France in this apartment and always felt very safe in this building and indeed the quartier.
I thought the little beach chairs would go down well - just to get one's 'butt' off the pebbles.
Your kind words are appreciated.

We spent 10 days in July at the apartment and had a wonderful holiday. The apartment is light, spacious and clean. We especially loved the terrace where we enjoyed chilling out and having the odd m… More
Marvelous! And did I mention that if you walk along the promenade towards the airport, there is a little cove where the local fisherman sell their fresh catch just ready to be put on the grill. All that is needed is a dribble of olive oil and a twist of lemon (the rest of the lemon can go in the gin and tonic :)-

You know, ten years ago when I first walked into this apartment I felt at home. It was one of those happy feelings which caused me to rush down to the agents the next day and put down my deposit to purchase. I have never felt anything differently since! So pleased you picked up on the same vibes - it can make all the difference between a holiday rental and a holiday home. Oh, and by the way, its 1st November and we are still taking balmy evening walks by the sea ...albeit it dark now.

"Great personal touches"

Thank you for your review. As you mention this is a bustling residential area of the town with the advantage of all facilities and commodities but no lorries trundling by in the street underneath. It is only the residents coming backwards and forewards. Street noise is negligable compared to the inner city centre. Its a great advantage and why I purchased this as my home. I am pleased you found lots of useful things to hand as well.

We are always on hand for our guests, and understanding that most have international mobile phones, we provide a landline for instant contact, unless we are out partying:)- should any help or information be needed.
