Home description
La Perle is an enchanting apartment on the two top floors of an old village house, in the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes. The view from the terrace, with a dining table and a bench, is absolutely stunning both day and night. It is like being on the bridge of a ship! The apartment is recently renovated, and decorated in Provencal style, with a mixture of modern furniture and local antiques. The top floor is air conditioned, and there is a high speed, wireless internet connection. Telephone and fax on demand.
On the lower floor, there is a bedroom with a sea view and a double bed (two single beds that together form a bed of 160 x 200 cm). There is also a shower room, with beautiful handmade Provencal tiles, a washing machine and a toilet. On the top floor is the combined living/dining-room, with an open fireplace and a bar kitchen. The kitchen is small, but well equipped - you will find everything except a conventional oven. Instead, there is an electrical grill/barbecue on the terrace. The living-room sofa is at the same time an easy-to-handle, comfortable double bed. There is a satellite-TV, a DVD-player, and a stereo. Lots of books in English and French, as well as DVDs and CDs. All along the main wall, there are windows and glass doors, opening onto the terrace. A wonderful place to relax, both in summer and winter!

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
The French Riviera really has it all - sun and sea, art, food, wines, shopping and sports. Tour the museums and galleries, or go shopping in Nice, Cannes and St Tropez. Go skiing in Isola 2000 or Auron - it is only 1,5 hours from Haut de Cagnes. Or go hiking in the magnificent mountains just above the coast. Go visit all the wonderful vineyards. There is something for everyone! The area is also famous for its temperate climate. The summers are hot, the winters mild. Average temperatures in summer are 23-27 degrees C, and in winter 13-16 degrees.
Nice / Haut de Cagnes area
Haut de Cagnes is a wonderful historical village, perched on a hilltop between Nice and Antibes, and overlooking the coastline between Cap Ferrat and Cap d´Antibes. Coming here is like walking a couple of hundred years back in time. Most people fall in love with it, some even find it magic. There are not tourist shops, but around 10-15 restaurants, a bar and a jazz club. The Place du Chateau is the heart of the village, and here you find the obligatory "boule" arena. Take a short walk (around 5 minutes) and you get to the modern part of Cagnes sur Mer, where you find one of the best covered Provencal markets of the Riviera. There are also two supermarkets, banks, lots of shops, vegetable stands etc.
The maire of Cagnes sur Mer is ambitious, and we now have our own Promenade or Croisette. The wide boardwalk along the beach is lined with pine and palm trees. On the other side of the sea road, the restaurants proudly present their terraces for outdoor eating, most of them with a beautiful view to the sea.

Guestbook for La Perle
The Best! CFTM Essex County, NJ, US Date of Stay: February 2009
"In 10 years of renting apartments in Western Europe this is the nicest we have found. It has a wonderful, ancient feel (part of being in a bourg medieval) but is comfortable and very well-equipped. We cooked many meals and ate on the lovely terrace with incredible sea and mountain views even though it was February. Even the bed is very comfortable. The custom-designed, blue-tiled shower is dazzling. The decor is nicely done. The village is endlessly fascinating and contains many notable restaurants very close by. We ate especially well at Entre Cour et Jardin. Fleur de Sel, La Goutte d'Eau and Jimmy's were also quite good. If you can get an invitation to the village club Cercle des Amis (especially on an evening when they are having bagna cauda) don't pass it up. The description of this apartment was absolutely accurate. We are seniors who travel without a car and found this a convenient rental. We are avid walkers and found the village itself very engaging. A free mini-bus stops at the front door of this apartment to go down to the centre ville and back with groceries and to get to the many inexpensive regional buses and trains. Many places to go in the region as well including." Grasse, Mandelieu, Menton and Nice.
Great for Couples! Graeme & Lee Melbourne, Australia Date of Stay: May 2008 "We loved this property. The view was magnificent and it was great to have a balcony to sit out on. The property was very quaint, old style, and we loved this because it seemed to be genuine old French style. The village was also very old and gave us a taste of the old life style. It had all the necessary facilities."
