The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Bordering Italy, Provence is a varied region with stunning natural scenery. The Côte d’Azur lies between the mountains peaks of the Alps and the shimmering turquoise Mediterranean. It has been the playground of Europe since the 19th century when it became a popular holiday destination for the rich and famous. It remains to this day, one of the most sought after destinations in France and is ideal for family and group holidays as well as romantic city breaks.
Agreeably named, Nice is the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes. It is a city that stays alive and active all year round. From the hilltop villages to the glitzy resorts of the Cote d'Azur there really is something for everyone. You could never tire of the stunning baroque architecture, winding alleyways, the markets with fresh local produce and swimming in the Azur sea. Nice is the perfect base to explore the region with excellent transport links.
With approximately 300 days of sunshine, it is renowned for its long hot summers and cooling sea breezes which help to maintain a pleasant temperature.
Beautifully situated, between Cannes and Menton, Nice offers easy access by train or bus allowing you to explore many other interesting towns along this famous coastline. Day trips to Monaco, Italy and some of the surrounding hilltop Provençal villages are all possible. A day trip to the ski slopes of Auron and Isola 2000 during the winter months is also feasible.
Vieux Nice (The Old Town) is a maze of alleyways opening out onto sunny squares with open air restaurants and trendy bars, ice cream shops and craft shops selling Provencal fabrics.
The Cours Saleya is a treat for the senses, a bustling farmers market by morning where you can sample the honey, goats cheese, olive oil crafted by local artisans. By night the market makes way for restaurants and bars serving mouth watering local specialties.
You are never far from the beach in the Old Town or the Château where you can enjoy stunning views of the coast. Nice is a year round destination with Christmas markets and fabulous shopping, jazz festivals, Nice Carnival and concerts. Nice is a great base from which to explore the French Riviera.
There are plenty of choices to indulge your cultural and spiritual appetite with the close proximity of so many museums, art galleries and ancient churches.
The apartment is only a 4 minute walk to the beaches on the Promenade des Anglais and a 3 minute walk to the Cours Saleya, a vibrant open air market during the day and later on a buzzing nightlife spot of Nice...

"Very nice Nice"
Apartment was better appointed than most homes. Previous guests had left everyday essentials - soap tea, coffee, seasonings, condements, and many other items even beer so we could start to enjoy holiday immediately. Ideal location for excursions which were clearly pointed out for us by Kate.
Thank you for taking the time to add your comments and so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the apartment.
