About the home

Apartment Beaux Arts is in a secure, quiet building, set back from the road and 3 mins to the beaches of the Prom des Anglais. Ideally located for seeing the sights of Nice, a leisurely stroll up the Prom will bring you to the Old Town and the markets of the Cours Saleya. If you are not feeling energetic, the apartment is on a bus corridor where the local buses will have you in the central shopping district in 5 mins or continue on to the Port to the east of central Nice.

For those day trips out of Nice, buses heading west to Antibes, St Paul de Vence and Cannes can be picked up at the stop nearest the apartment on the Prom. If your day out involves a train trip, the main railway station is about 15 minutes away and on 2 bus routes which pass by the apartment. On your doorstep, there is a pharmacy, a convenience store, an ATM machine, a newsagents, 2 small cafés and a florist.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region

Nice, the premier destination on France's Cote d'Azur is truly a destination for all seasons. The famous sunlight and azure seas which inspired artists for centuries will lift the spirits of any Northern European. With an embarrassment of cultural riches, art and music lovers are well catered for in Nice, with the excellent Musée Matisse, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Chagall museum and the MAMAC (the Modern Art museum) all close by. The busy Opera house has a continuous programme of ballet, opera and symphonic concerts from September to June. But it is undoubtedly the famous Promenade des Anglais where you can while away the morning with a book or enjoy lunch down on the beach in the shelter of the prom walls that means Nice to most people. With long hours of bright sunshine, some beach restaurants operate all year round, and you can still find a sheltered spot to sip your rosé and feel the sun on your face in December - but do bring your overcoat!

Nice Carnival 2013: Carnival of the Five Continents With one of the glitziest Carnivals north of Rio de Janiero, people travel from all parts of France and neighbouring Italy to enjoy the street parades, Battle of the Flowers and illuminated night events and fireworks. This year's Carnival runs from February 15th-Shrove Tuesday March 6th. If you fancy fruits with your flowers, take a train up to Menton for the Fete du Citron (Lemon Festival), which runs during the same period. Nice's many small boutiques and curiosity shops offer simple and quirky gift solutions, and pleasant ideas for the home. The world famous Galeries Lafayettes store has late opening evenings and great sale reductions spread throughout the year. Vieux Nice, with its warren of narrow streets, has fabulous artisanale shops mixed in with unusual boutiques and shoe and bag outlets. Apart from its own attractions, Nice is optimally served by both train and bus for trips to Villefranche, Eze, St Jean-Cap Ferrat, Monaco, Menton and the Italian markets at Ventimiglia to the east. The main railway station is a 20 minute walk or take Bus 12 or 23 from outside the apartment. If you fancy going west to visit Antibes, Juan les Pins, Cannes or St Tropez, you can do this easily by train. Some buses to Cannes, Antibes and St Paul de Vence stop at the bus-stop on the Promenade nearest the apartment. Public transport is cheap and efficient in and around Nice and a new incentive flat rate of €1 for any journey on bus or tram in Nice or the extended district is in operation. A seven-day ticket is also available. Nice Airport is 5km from Beaux-Arts apartment, a mere 15 minutes by bus or taxi. Regular direct connections with Easyjet, BmiBaby and BA from the UK and with Ryanair & Aer Lingus from Ireland. Air France operates a busy daily schedule over Paris. If arriving by TGV train, Nice's main station is 2km from the apartment. Situated just offf the Prom des Anglais, if you are driving, the apartment is easy to locate. Why not combine a stay in Nice with a visit to Corsica? Ferries depart from the Port of Nice to Bastia and Calvi.

“Highly recommended!” We spent a most enjoyable week in this lovely apartment. It is secure, unexpectedly spacious, light-filled and equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. A special pleasure is breakfast on the sunny balcony! There is a very pleasant neighbourhood feel to the area and nearby shops include an excellent bakery and a late-opening supermarket. The location is supberb, just one block from the Promenade des Anglais, at a part of the beach which seems pleasantly distant from the centre of Nice. However, the Centre Ville is, in reality, just a 20 minute walk away, or accessible by buses which pass alongside the apartment. When travelling further afield, buses to locations west of Nice stop close by on the Promenade. Highly recommended! BG, Dublin
