The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region

The Cote d'Azur enjoys a pleasant all year round climate with an average of 300 days of sunshine per year.
The bright sunlight, vivid colours and blue sky and sea that attracted artists such as Picasso and Matisse are as remarkable as ever.
Nice is the capital of the Riviera and the fifth largest city in France. It really is a city with something for everyone. Its mixture of influences (Greek, Roman, English, Russian and American) has perhaps led to its modern day cosmopolitan feel but, although there is a strong Italian influence, particularly in the food and architecture, Nice is still unmistakably French.
The extensive rail network has frequent services to all the main coastal resorts including Mandelieu-La Napoule, Grasse, Cannes, Juan les Pins, Antibes, Villefranche sur Mer, Monaco, Menton and Ventimille in Italy. Other main line services mean that cities including Marseilles, Dijon and Milan are also within reach
The Port is within walking distance where a number of trips can be booked including the ferry to Corsica.
The Nice / Central Nice area
Carre d'Or (Golden Square) is one of the most prestigious districts of Nice, distinguished by many fine examples of Belle Epoque architecture. Although central, the area is relatively quiet but provides easy access to the town centre and the Old Town. The pedestrianised Rue de France is also nearby with its many shops, bars and restaurants.
Local Activities include cycling, diving, fishing, roller blading, sailing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, Museums, Old Town, art galleries, markets, cafes, restaurants.
