Nice has many places of interest that is why it brings people back time after time. Not only for the Spring /Summer sunshine, but all year round, as the climate is mild even during the winter. You can be in a hilltop town and feel cold and come back down to Nice and sit in the sun. The history of Nice is very interesting and you can visit the museums and learn what has made Nice unique. The town was once part of Italy and you can still see the influences all over Nice with the art, buildings and of course the food. The sky and the sea have a unique attraction because of the colour changes, but when it is blue it is beautiful: is it any wonder so many artists came to and lived in Nice and the Cote d'Azur?. The ancient Chateau above the Old Town and Port is a great place to get up to via stairs or the lift, also via the Old Town of Nice from the Fish Market area. The views are fantastic as are the ruins. You can also take the little white tourist train not only up to the Chateau but around Nice and it also has commentary in most languages.
The Nice / Central Nice area
Nice is the 5th largest town/city in France and with that brings endless activities and attractions, it has the Carnival and Flower Festival which runs from the 18th February to 8th March which is not to be missed: great fun for all ages. At the same time with just a €1 bus ticket hop on the bus to Menton for the Lemon and Orange Festival, the giant floats decorated with citrus fruits are amazing and the scent in the air is wonderful. And of course if you wish to rub shoulders with the rich and famous then you have Cannes Film Festival from 11th May to 22nd May - and lets not forget the Monaco Grand Prix : wonderful! And every two years there is the Historic Grand Prix where the cars from the very first Grand Prix through to present day race around the track. Visit the Automobile Club web site for full details. There are festivals of all all sorts all year round, from music of all genres to food , even the humble Garlic and Mushroom have festivals of their own. Visit Nice Tourism for full details.

A week in October 2012, and the temperatures were perfect - warm and dry, except for one wet afternoon. The apartment is spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. A simple, short bus drive from the airport drops you within three minutes walk, and the bus back is only a minute away! It is in the bustling heart of Nice (with posh shops below) but very peaceful and calm in the flat, as it is at the back. Food shops and restaurants are many and varied, and you need a long visit to do everything you might wish. We need to return, and are already planning that. |

My wife and I spent a memorable week in this apartment which is situated in the throbbing heart of Nice. It is set on a pedestrianised street full of designer shops and, at the end of the street, numerous restaurants for those who wish to eat out. At the other end of the street are bus stops which take passengers to all points west of Nice i.e. Cannes, Grasse, etc. It is also easy to get buses travelling east to Eze, Monte Carlo, St.Jean de Ferat etc. And all journeys cost only one euro! The flat itself is very homely and equipped with every imagineable artefact to make one`s holiday a success. Those who wish to cook for themselves have every appliance needed to serve a cordon bleu meal. The bedroom is comfortable and enjoys the luxury of a fan for hot nights. There is a small balcony overlooking the rooftops where one can eat breakfast and enjoy the fresh early morning air. Above all, the apartment is very quiet and visitors are assured of a peaceful night`s sleep. Nice itself offers so much that a week is hardly sufficient to experience all its delights. DO GO! |
