The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

Provence and the Cote d'Azur are not just for a summer destination, but a great place to visit all year round. The winter season from November to February are fantastic with so much to do. You can take the ski train even if you do not ski and visit the hilltop and mountain villages and towns. The Ski bus is just €1 per journey and you can ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon. Local people and Tourist alike can be seen on the beaches during the winter. The Christmas Markets in all the towns and villages are well worth a visit, plus the shopping is wonderful. The Winter and Spring is a perfect time to visit the Cote d'Azur there is alway a festival or carnival of some sort to visit.

Nice is not just a town to holiday in for sunbathing and swimming, there are endless activities, carnivals and festivals all year long. February brings the Flower Festival and Carnival a must see and last around two weeks. We have the free music festival in June where the streets, squares and gardens become home to all musicians and artists from classical to pop for all to see and watch for free and last all day and well into the night. The of course many music and jazz festival in the Summer months check out Nice Tourism on-line to see the full dates. There is also the Nice Marathon, Nice to Paris cycle race and the Iron Man competition.

Nice is a a wonderful town with it's fantastic buildings and amenities. You can wander for hours not only along the Promenade des Anglais, but up to the Old Chateau and take in the views and history. You also have the Old Town just off the Promenade where you can wander for hours looking at the shop and galleries. And of course you have the Cours Salyea flower and produce market which is wonderful place to sit and take in the local life with a glass of wine or 2! Nice was once part of Italy and you can see the Italian Influence all over the town in the building and the food.

"Wonderful Cannes"

Our holiday at Hilary and Billy's apartment was perfect.Everything is supplied in the apartment including leaflets about the Riviera, plenty of books,DVDs,and even French/English dictionaries and 'French for Beginners'.The Welcome pack(We scoffed the lot!)contained biscuits, nuts, bread, butter, and wine.(Can't remember it all !)
The apartment is ideally situated with the beach and supermarkets within walking distance. The architecture in Nice is stunning.A beautiful Russian church nearby is well worth a visit (Men must wear long trousers).
We enjoyed the local 'gateaux','peches'and of course plenty of 'biere'(the weather being hot! ,
We found Nice hotter than we remember it in the 70s but weather is a personal choice,of course. The temperature was usually over 90F and sometimes 95 degreesF(35C) We will probably revisit in the Spring.
I practised my 'schoolboy' French and successfully managed to buy stamps amongst other things.(But the French people were very helpful and friendly anyway).
So we will be back ,very soon I hope.
For the 'oldies' whe read this(I am 70),Billy was the drummer with 'The Searchers' in the 60s onwards.Remember 'Needles and Pins'?
Finally, a holiday in this apartment is highly recommended (I forgot to mention that Hilary an Billy are lovely people)

"A Perfect choice"

The wife and I stayed here in April 2013 and found the apartment perfect in every way. It was very well equipped with every type of glass, cup, plate, cutlery, and nick knacks you could ever want, also the quality and comfort of the furnishings was second to none while still in keeping with the wonderfully French chic style. Any Kim and Aggie fans out there would also appreciate the cleanliness of the whole apartment. It was immaculate, from the hallway, to the bathroom, bedroom, lounge and even the balcony. We found out later that Bill and Hilary clean all their apartments personally after every use and this really shows through. The apartment itself is located in a midsized residential block with the concierge of the building being our nearest neighbour and I have to say that as well as all the residents being as quiet as mice they always greeted us with a smile and a bonjour, bonsoir or a bon nuit when we bumped into them in the hallway.
In the immediate area there are supermarkets, cafe's, pharmacies, bars, restaurants etc, but best of all is a wonderful patisserie just at the end of the street that opened early enough for fresh croissants and batons for breakfast and stayed open late for naughty tea time treats.
Slightly further away are the main shops, bars etc and seafront, these are easily within walking distance in fact we took a slightly different route every day there and back and always discovered something new and interesting.
If your new to Nice and the area there is boatloads to see and there is lots of info on the area in the apartment itself, no need to visit the TI and if you can't be bothered to read all the leaflets just ask Bill and Hilary they have lived here for many years and are a mine of info, happy to help and love sharing their experiences.
All in all a great holiday and accommodation.
Will definitely be returning.

"Excellent location and lovely apartment."

We have just enjoyed a week in this lovely apartment. It was so comfortable, quiet and equipped with everything you would ever need. It was good to come 'home' to such a restful spot after a day out - no traffic noise and lots of handy shops. The bakery and the deli saw quite a lot of us. We used the train to go farther afield and it was easy to walk up to the station. Our hosts really put themselves out to make us feel welcome and help us with any little query. And they were there to meet us at the bus stop when we arrived!

"Beautiful, elegant, old country style, comfortable and welcoming,"

Spent 3 weeks in this wonderful apt and still not enough. Have recommended to friends as a perfect place to stay on the French Riviera. The old country style of this apt was impeccable and the finishing incredible.
