Home description
La Maisonette is a very cute, lovingly decorated, and totally refurbished little house, in the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes. On the balcony, vines - carrying grapes - climb all along the rustic fence. From here, you have a wonderful view to the green hills, with the sun setting behind them.
From the street, you enter the combined living/dining-room, with an open kitchen. In summer, the glass doors of the balcony expand the space of the room. In winter, the open fireplace adds warmth and atmosphere. The decoration, although recently done, gives a feeling of the old Provence. The furniture is a mix of modern things and local antiques, while the appliances are brand new.
The main bedroom on the ground floor sleeps two in a comfortable double bed. The shower room makes you think of the sea, and the beach (PLEASE NOTE that this is the only shower/wc in the house). A glass door opens to a little green courtyard. In principle, it is shared with the next door neighbours, but in reality it is more or less used only by the inhabitants of La Maisonette.
A second bedroom can be found in the top floor loft. Here too, there is a comfortable double bed. The house is equipped with internet, and French TV with some international channels. You can also enjoy music from a stereo system.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
The French Riviera really has it all - sun and sea, art, food, wines, shopping and sports. Tour the museums and galleries, or go shopping in Nice, Cannes and St Tropez. Go skiing in Isola 2000 or Auron - it is only 1,5 hours from Haut de Cagnes. Or go hiking in the magnificent mountains just above the coast. Go visit all the wonderful vineyards. There is something for everyone! The area is also famous for its temperate climate. The summers are hot, the winters mild. Average temperatures in summer are 23-27 degrees C, and in winter 13-16 degrees.
Nice / Cagnes Sur Mer area
Haut de Cagnes is a wonderful historical village, perched on a hilltop between Nice and Antibes, and overlooking the coastline between Cap Ferrat and Cap d´Antibes. Coming here is like walking a couple of hundred years back in time. Most people fall in love with it, some even find it magic. There are no tourist shops, but around 10-15 restaurants, a bar and a jazz club. The Place du Chateau is the heart of the village, and here you find the obligatory "boule" arena. Take a short walk (around 5 minutes) and you get to the modern part of Cagnes sur Mer, where you find one of the best covered Provencal markets of the Riviera. There are also two supermarkets, banks, lots of shops, vegetable stands etc.
The mayor of Cagnes sur Mer is ambitious, and we now have our own Promenade (like in Nice) or Croisette (like in Cannes). The wide boardwalk along the beach is lined with pine and palm trees. On the other side of the sea road, the restaurants proudly present their terraces for outdoor eating, most of them with a beautiful view to the sea.
How to get there
Train, plane, or car. Fly in with Easyjet, Ryanair, Transavia, or all the major airlines. Take the train to Cagnes sur Mer (or get off in Antibes). Take the A8 highway, and exit at Cagnes sur Mer. Go to Centre ville, and follow the brown signs for Haut de Cagnes.
