Home description
Casa Cielo is a lovingly restored, stone-built farmhouse with its own beautiful garden and private swimming pool, and commanding views over the Niccone valley towards the hilltops and woods of the Umbrian-Tuscan border country.
The house, which has been divided into two separate floors, each with country kitchen, outdoor eating terrace and living room with open fireplace, can sleep up to 9 people. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms with one bathroom, while on the upper floor there are two double bedrooms, one single bedroom and two bathrooms. Wrought iron canopy beds in the master bedrooms and antique furniture throughout the house give a sense of luxury, while also displaying the high quality of local craftsmanship.
The romantic master bedroom on the upper floor is spacious and full of light with windows on two sides. A second double bedroom in the third floor tower, also with windows on two sides, offers a magnificent private retreat from which to view the rolling countryside and shifting light effects from dawn to dusk.
Restoration of this house was done using the traditional materials, including large oak beams, terra cotta floors, and hand painted Italian tiles in the kitchens and bathrooms.
Outdoors, there are eating and lounging terraces with spectacular views, and a separate barbecue area. Winding stone path ways lead to the private swimming pool, located just above the house and which provides a truly panoramic perspective from which to relax.

The Umbria region
Mystical, atmospheric Umbria. This is deepest Italy, a land with a historical, spiritual and cultural heritage that can be sensed and witnessed as soon as you leave the main thoroughfares and head into the hills and mountains that dominate its territory.
Its ancient cities of art such as Assisi, Perugia and Spoleto, along with the great artists, craftsmen and saints who animated them, have to vie for attention with the beauty of the natural environment and the fascination of hidden architectural gems that reward the more individually discerning visitor.
Umbria also has plenty to offer the immediate senses, from excellent food and wines to jazz festivals, outdoor sports and activities and, more simply, the unique colour and movement of its everyday life.
Much of Italy’s soul is encapsulated by Umbria, and even a few days here leave a deeply lasting impression.
Niccone Valley area
The picturesque Niccone Valley is the perfect, central point from which to explore the hill towns of both Umbria and Tuscany. Located roughly midway between Rome and Florence, just north of Lake Trasimeno, it’s an easy drive to the historic cities of Cortona, Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Deruta, Montefalco, Spoleto, Spello, Todi, Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena, Umbertide, Città di Castello, Sansepolcro and others.
For an up-to-the minute calendar of events, go to the tourist information office in Umbertide, located on Via Cibo just off the Piazza Matteotti and around the corner from the Bar Centrale, open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or log onto www.umbria2000.it and click on the British flag for English, then on Cities. Town names can also be Googled for maps, information about festivals, etc.
