Home description
This beautifully restored stone farm house is luminous and cosy with spectacular south western views. Nestled amidst old terraces on a high hillside, it is surrounded by wild cherry trees and sheltering oaks, from which the house takes its name.
Restored in the late nineties, La Quercia is a blend of old materials and modern comforts. The house has been designed with two bathrooms, country kitchen and living room on each of two floors and provides ample space for eight people, while also offering privacy between floors. A 17th century refectory table in the upper kitchen and a large teak dining table on the expansive, wisteria-covered terrace allows everyone to eat together in all seasons.
The kitchens have been designed with luxurious cooking facilities, antique dining tables, and marble and granite counter tops and modern appliances. On each floor, large, open fireplaces with stone surrounds and heavy chestnut mantles are equipped for cooking grilled meats and bruschetta.
The bedrooms are furnished with handcrafted furniture, large beds with good mattresses, and desks equipped with phone and electrical outlets for computer use.

The Umbria region
Mystical, atmospheric Umbria. This is deepest Italy, a land with a historical, spiritual and cultural heritage that can be sensed and witnessed as soon as you leave the main thoroughfares and head into the hills and mountains that dominate its territory.
Its ancient cities of art such as Assisi, Perugia and Spoleto, along with the great artists, craftsmen and saints who animated them, have to vie for attention with the beauty of the natural environment and the fascination of hidden architectural gems that reward the more individually discerning visitor.
Umbria also has plenty to offer the immediate senses, from excellent food and wines to jazz festivals, outdoor sports and activities and, more simply, the unique colour and movement of its everyday life.
Much of Italy’s soul is encapsulated by Umbria, and even a few days here leave a deeply lasting impression.
Niccone Valley area
The picturesque Niccone Valley is the perfect, central point from which to explore the hill towns of both Umbria and Tuscany. Town names can also be Googled for maps, information about festivals, etc.
