Forest Keep is a splendid holiday cottage on the Welsh / Shropshire border 1 mile from Kerry village and 3 miles from Newtown. The cottage sleeps 5 to 6 people and has is own private patio area and access to the main gardens. A hot tub is location to the rear of the property and may be available to hire. Pets welcome with WiFi available. Children of all ages welcome. There is a tennis court, games room, children's play area with timber fort . Forest Cottages is a family run self catering business, and home to the Martin family.

Forest Keep is close to great walks at the Kerry Ridgeway, Offa's Dyke and Glyndwr's Way. Montgomery with its castle ruins and the medieval Powis Castle are close by. There are steam railways, cycling, fishing and horse riding nearby.

The tranquil setting makes it the perfect place in which to relax and an ideal base to explore the many attractions of Mid Wales including Powis Castle National Trust. Less than a mile away is Kerry village which has a pub restaurant and it is a 5 minute drive to Newtown.

This cottage accommodates 5 people, with an extra bed also possible. The furnishings and decoration of the cottage is in a style which respects the original architecture. Children of all ages are welcome and there is an outside play area, toy boxes, DVDs and a free games room. Wifi internet available on request in the cottage.

Dogs are only allowed by prior arrangement at the time of booking. We have 4 other cottages

The Powys / Brecon Beacons / Powys region

There is a lot to see and do in this beautiful area of The Marches including walking, cycling, golf, horse riding, castles to explore and pretty villages and towns.

The Forest's central location on the border of Wales and England, and good road links makes it an ideal base with easy driving to Welshpool, Montgomery, Shrewsbury, Chester, Ludlow, Machynlleth and Builth Wells.

Slightly further away lie the beautiful Brecon Beacons, breathtaking Snowdonia and the Cardigan Bay beaches of Aberystwyth with Aberdyfi and Borth just an hour's drive away.

The ancient market town of Newtown is located 3 miles away in the heart of the magnificent Montgomeryshire countryside nestling on the banks of the River Severn. The bustling town is steeped in history dating back to 1279 and offers the following places of interest:

Newtown is on the border with Powys and Shropshire. Directions from Newtown: Take the A489 (Kerry Rd at McDonald's traffic lights) for 3 miles and just before you enter Kerry, take the right turning sign posted The Forest into Gilfach Lane. Follow the narrow winding lane for approximately 3/4 and the entrance to The Forest Cottages has black metal gates and is on the left, just past the brook.
