Glentruim Castle has been beautifully extended and fully renovated to create an intimate atmosphere that is welcoming throughout the year. Offering spacious rooms with great attention to style and detail yet still retaining many of its original features it is the ideal location for large house parties and family gatherings.
The large Drawing Room with its open fire and French doors to the terraced lawns is a lovely room to retire to after a meal in the beautiful Dining Room, where there too is a large open fire and a hugh basket of estate-cut logs to crackle in the grate. The historic "Gents' Smoking Room" is also a wonderful place to relax. Here you can sit back, savouring a good Malt in a room virtually unchanged in over 100 years. For the younger generation "The Snug" is a place to enjoy the TV and Wii, as well as the large library of DVDs and compendium of games.
The newly built Orangery is a most pleasing room in which to sit quietly and enjoy the stunning views and watch the squirrels and bird life feeding on the lawns and surrounding trees.. The large and beautifully well equipped kitchen is a handsome yet informal room where guests can gather at breakfast time and plan the day's activities,. If you need to keep in touch with the outside world, The Study offers a place to read and access the computer (with free internet access, of course).
2011 saw our basement fully renovated to a very high standard to create a Leisure Suite, incorporating a Fitness Room/Gym, Sauna Room, Beauty Treatment Room and Private Home Cinema complete with a Full SKY TV Package including Sports and Movies, and a wide selection of DVDs to suit all tastes and ages.

There is also history a plenty – from Iron Age hill forts to magnificent castles, with the award winning The Highland Folk Museum here on our doorstep in Newtonmore. If whisky is your interest, then this area is heaven! Dalwhinnie Distillery is just 3 miles along the road, and with the famous River Spey flowing past the estate, we can boast of being at the southern end of the Speyside Whisky Trail, where many of the world’s most famous malts are produced, and where many scenes for "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and "The Angel's Share" were filmed. There are also wonderful golf courses and horse riding centres within a very short drive, and the Highland Wildlife Park and Highland Folk Museum are both great days out.

"The perfect holiday"
We stayed at Glentruim with family and friends to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. It was fantastic. The castle is beautiful, unspoilt and homely, you can feel the warmth of the place as soon as you walk through the door. It was so well equipped with everything you need for a large house party. The scenery and views from the grounds are spectacular. Thank you to Deirdre who made sure we were well looked after.

"THE BEST BIRTHDAY BASH IN THE MOST AMAZING CASTLE"
Returned to Glentruim for a Special Birthday! The Comfort, Space, Hot-tub, Cinema room, Log fires and Scenery are all fantastic. 13 girls spent 3 nights at this amazing Castle. The beauty of staying here compared to a hotel is........no other guests to worry about, no set meal times, the space inside and out and no hefty bar bills!!! We used a local caterer called Gilly, who was wonderful. Gillys food was exceptional and she catered for our every need and was so pleasant. A much better option than eating out. Glentruim is a very special place, the Smoking Room and Dining Room are my favourites and the Cinema Room is WOW!! Deirdre the Estate Manager is "one in a million" and is so friendly and helpful, dealing with all my requests efficiently. Thanks to the owners............. We had an unforgettable weekend with memories to treasure forever.
Thank you for your great review. Glentruim is a beautiful place and we are delighted that all of our guests enjoy it as much as we do. Our aim is to provide excellent accommodation and a warm and welcoming environment in which our guests feel totally relaxed and at home, and to create special memories that will live with them forever more. The fact that you are a repeat customer several times over speaks volumes. Thanks and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

"Think of an amazing, beautiful castle and multiply by 50"
Glentrium Castle was out of this world, incredible. I have never in my life stayed in such an amazing self catering accommodation, let alone a castle! It is a beautiful castle, very large, but not scary, and the detail that has gone into the interior and little trinkets exceeded all my expectations. The website does not do this castle justice - it is just so wonderful. Highlights: movie room, outdoor hot tub, sauna, spa room which is attended on request by a beauty therapist, the view, a massive lawn with comfy seats, the stunning location of the Cairngorms, a very well equipped kitchen, CD player/iPod dock in most of the communal rooms, and one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. Deirdre, the estate manager, was incredibly helpful all the way through the booking process (I organised a hen do for 15 people!), and she made sure we had everything we needed. You must stay here!!!

"Unbeatable stay in the most idyllic location and accommodation"
We could never have imagined how individual and special Glentruim Castle was before we came - the photos just cannot convey it. We stayed as a group of 16 (using a lodge too) and the entire accommodation was faultless. Even down to having three dishwashers to avoid hours of washing up after the large dinners! Deirdre was fantastic and we so appreciate the owners opening up their amazing Castle for rented use.

We stayed for the a weekend as a group of 14 friends and honestly couldnt have had a better weekend. The house is absolutely immaculate and has plenty to do in it if the weather isnt great. We were lucky enough to get some sun so walked up to the viewpoint which was stunning and some of the group also went skiing to aviemore nearby. We cooked for ourselves and the kitchen was an absolute dream.. Had everything you would need and didnt feel crowded at all with 4 or 5 of us cooking at the same time. Beds were extremely comfy and the bath in the main master bathroom was heavenly! Only negative was we wish we'd booked another night! Thanks a million Deirdre!
