About the home

The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains, which can be seen from the cottage and garden. We are located above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and quiet. In the foreground are sheep and lambs, as we are in a crofting area, together with lapwings, curlews, oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottage well equipped, warm and comfortable, which is reflected in our recent 3* rating.

The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides.

This cottage is suitable for couples, two singles wanting separate rooms or a couple with one friend/ child.

This cottage has a link door to Loft cottage (property 137854) and so the two cottages can be booked together for up to 8 people.
Shared access to washing machine and drying room. Also ironing board and iron.
Single futon settee available, recommended for child not adult use.
Cottage has been freshly painted and new furniture added in 2010.
Original artwork within the cottage gives it a homely feel.

The Scottish Highlands region

The Cairngorms National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty, world renowned for the wild, rugged landscape and home to many native species of birds and wildlife including the elusive Scottish wildcat. Red squirrels, pine martin, deer, hare and badgers are also found locally.

It is also an adventure paradise, where you can do a huge range of outdoor pursuits including walking, biking, skiing, rock climbing, gliding, white water rafting, sailing, canoeing, canyoning, golf, fishing, dogsledding, quad biking and more.

The Newtonmore area

Newtonmore is a traditional highland village with a long and colourful history: visitors can learn more at the Highland folk museum or Clan Macpherson museums located in the village. There is also an annual highland games and clan gathering in August as well as weekly shinty matches. Some of you will have seen the area featured in the popular TV programme " Monarch of the Glen".

Today it depends on agriculture and tourism. The former can be enjoyed from the cottage in spring, when lambs skip in front of the cottage. Local restaurants serve good local produce to satisfy your appetite after a day spent hillwalking, mountain biking or skiing. Or you can pursue more artistic endeavours, such as photography, painting or learning how to make fused glass crafts at the cottage (not included). What more could you want!

Newtonmore is situated approximately 65 miles North of Perth. If travelling Northwards by car, take the A9 signposted Inverness and turn off at the Newtonmore/ Kingussie exit. Drive right through the village and turn left after the Highlander hotel into Strone Road. This leads uphill over a cattle grid and bends to the left at the top of the hill. Croft holidays is situated on your left hand side.

If flying, Inverness airport is served by Easyjet and Flybe from UK destinations; Edinburgh and Glasgow airports have flights throughout Europe with many different airlines. Car hire can be arranged from these airports.
