This super split level self contained two bedroom barn conversion is part of a detached property shared with the owners and enjoys wonderful countryside views from the rear patio and from both bedrooms. The quiet rural setting of the barn creates a feeling of countryside seclusion with fields and woodland all around and pleasant walks available directly from the garden, however the seaside resorts of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Torquay are all within a very short drive to offer complete holiday contrasts.

The popular market town of Newton Abbot with is wide range of shops and supermarkets is just a few miles away as are the picturesque villages of Combeinteignhead and Stokeinteignhead with their fine country inns. The accommodation is well presented and comfortably furnished and is ideal for a family or couples looking for a quiet holiday retreat which is conveniently located for the South Devon coastline and resorts.

Newton Abbot

Formally known for it’s excellent ship-building and fishing industries, Shaldon is located at the mouth of the river Teign. With it’s narrow side-streets and Georgian architecture Shaldon has all the qualities of a tradition British coastal village.

Dubbed as “The best little zoo in the west” you can also visit the Shaldon Wildlife Trust which is home to many small animals and can provide an entertaining and informative day out for all.

Every year, towards the end of August, the village plays host to the Shaldon Regatta. This annual spectacle features crews from all around Devon and Cornwall taking part in races and plenty of other amusing activities in and around the village.

"Not Disability Friendly."

We are always very disappointed if clients don't fully enjoy a holiday especially when we feel a problem could easily have been avoided.
Firstly, for the benefit of the reader we will quote the positive comments from the reviewers email sent to us following the visit which we feel should be added to the review for a balanced opinion of the cottage:-
"The accommodation was a very quiet, peaceful, isolated 'barn' which we would have really enjoyed, and, in fact, did manage to have a fantastic holiday, making Dartmoor an "unrepeatable experience" that our Granddaughter really loved. So, to have to write to you to say anything 'Bad' seems a shame, and, the owners of the property (who were next door) were as 'helpful' as they could be, and we have No Argument with them"
The arguement then, we must assume, is with our agencies advert, not the cottage or its owners, and its suitability for a disabled person. Again we wish the reader to be aware that unfortunately on no occasion during the booking process were we asked about the cottage's suitability for a disabled person, had we had any knowledge whatsoever we would have given an honest answer for reasoned a decision to be made. To then criticise us on something we had no knowledge of perhaps is somewhat unfair? Commenting on the opinion made of our advert, in our experience the whole holiday market advertise properties as "suitable" for disabled where applicable, not warning of "unsuitability", this is because there are different distinct areas of disability with specific and differing requirements including those affecting, poor or no sight, poor or no hearing and of course differing levels of mobility from minor to wheelchair dependent, so blanket suitability is sensibly avoided. If this wasn't the common practice in the holiday market approximately 90% of adverts would then include a warning, plainly not practical! It is generally assumed by the disability bodies that those people and families affected, with their own personal situations, experiences and levels of disability, enquire in advance about specific requirements and not pass on the responsibility to a third party, we will always help where possible and obviously when asked. Again reader, please make your own assumptions about Deer Park Barn and perhaps not an individual's personal opinion of our agency or our advert.
