Home description
Driftwood Lodge is a cosy yet spacious bungalow with everything you would need for a relaxing and refreshing holiday. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac position in a residential area, it is within walking distance of the local beaches, the River Gannel estuary (great for bird and nature watchers) and two of Newquay's favourite restaurants; Fistral Blu restaurant and The Lewinnick Lodge bar and restaurant. For a more casual dining experience, there is the Windswept Cafe which is overlooking the beach at south Fistral where you can watch the surfers catching the waves whilst enjoying a drink and relaxing in the warm atmosphere of this cosy venue.
Whilst staying at Driftwood Lodge you will be able to take full advantage of the beautiful countryside and seascapes on some of the nearby coastal walks.

The West Country / Cornwall region
The beauty of the countryside and the coast are intermingled in this breathtaking part of the UK. Pentire Headland is sandwiched between the famous Fistral Beach and the Gannel River Valley. The Gannel River Valley is a conservation area and very popular for walks, picnics and access to Crantock Beach and the picturesque Village of Crantock, both of which can be reached on foot when the tide is out and by ferry when the tide is in. Alternatively, it is about a ten minute drive from Pentire via stunning countryside.
The Headland itself is National Trust property and therefore protected. It boasts incredible scenery, both of Fistral and Crantock Beaches and the countryside beyond. If you are feeling a little lethargic, Lewinnick Lodge Bar and Restaurant sits on the Headland, with magnificent views across to Newquay. Dogs are welcome in their bar and there are terraces outside if you would prefer.
Just a little further in towards Newquay, the Windswept cafe/restaurant sits above the Pentire end of Fistral Beach and also boasts wonderful views out across the water. The Bay Bar at the Bay Hotel is another splendid venue, whether it be for coffee, lunch or dinner, the views are spectacular and not to be missed, not to mention their wonderful new Spa.
Effectively, there is so much available in the locality of the Pentire Headland area, that it may not even be necessary to leave it to enjoy your holiday. When the weather is fine it's absolutely beautiful and, when the weather is not so fine, it's still absolutely beautiful, only different. Still dramatic, awe inspiring and humbling. Mother Nature at her best.
Newquay / Pentire area
Newquay is ideal for all visitors with something for everyone within easy walking or driving distance. Boasting some of the west country's most beautiful beaches and rugged coastline, Newquay can be as lively or as tranquil as you need it to be.
During the day, you can learn to surf, soak up the abundant sunshine, play some golf, take a walk along the coast or spend some hard earned cash in the town. You could visit Newquay Zoo with its collection of many protected animals. Newquay Zoo is a part of the St Austell College Campus and trains budding vets and zoologists in a quest to protect, not only prevalent species of animals, but many rare and endangered species.
For those of you that enjoy the sea and its flora and fawna, the Newquay Aquarium is an absolute must. Situated within the town on Towan Beach, it is well worth a visit. You may even get an opportunity to see a rare blue ringed octopus!!!
If you want to venture further afield everything is within easy reach - the Eden Project, Padstow, Land's End, St. Michael's Mount, The Lost Gardens of Helligan and many more adventures are yours for the taking.
Your evenings can be spent enjoying watching the sun go down at one of the beachside restaurants or walking in the moonlight across one of the white sandy beaches. Alternatively you can go for a drink and a boogie in one of Newquay's many lively night spots.
