The West Country region

With its magnificent coastline stretching almost 300 miles and warmer climate, Cornwall is the

perfect holiday destination. The dramatic coastline offers a huge range of activities from water

sports, surfing, quaint fishing towns to explore and the inland beauty offers a varied and diverse

landscape to explore. Cornwall also has a world class food scene from local producers to award

winning restaurants and of course the famous cream teas.

Whilst equal in beauty and interest the North coast and the South coast offer quite different

experiences. The North's long sandy beaches are often pummelled by the Atlantic making it a

surfer's paradise and mecca for all extreme sports. The South is less rugged and offers fishing

villages, beaches, harbours and lovely gardens that bloom in the milder climate.

When you think of great holiday destinations in England, Newquay will undoubtedly feature in that list. It is a Cornish gem with so much to offer, from beaches and festivals, to aquariums and zoos, Newquay definitely has something for everybody. Perched on the north coast of Cornwall, Newquay spectacularly attracts large numbers of tourists throughout the year, but particularly during the summer months. It is during these months when lots of the festivals roll into town.

The Boardmasters surfing event is held annually on Fistral beach and Watergate Bay and is considered to be one of the biggest events on the British surfing calendar. The Electric Beach Music Festival coincides with the surfing to create a vibrant atmosphere that continues to attract visitors to the town.

And just like many other seaside resorts, there is the annual Newquay Carnival Week, which is one not to be missed. This is the perfect week for families, with a host of events, activities and attractions to keep the kids entertained and they will be sure to fall in love with Cornwall.

But you don't just need events to enjoy Newquay; there are 12 beaches to choose from along the Cornish Riviera. Fistral Beach is the most iconic, largely due to its golden sand and fabulous surfing opportunities. Towan Beach is always popular, enjoying a central location. Crantock Beach was voted Best British Beach in 2013 and Mawgan Porth Beach is a popular spot with families. Newquay Harbour turns into a beach at low tide and Tolcarne Beach nestles into a bay surrounded by cliffs. Holywell Bay Beach is a popular hangout for dog-walkers, and Porth Beach is a sandy recluse. Lusty Glaze Beach can offer fantastic activities and The Gannel Estuary can be explored in a variety of ways, including horseback. And finally but most certainly not least are Watergate Bay Beach with over 2 miles of golden sand and Great Western Beach, ideal for novice suffers. Phew!

Newquay can also boast a plethora of shopping opportunities, with a blend of traditional local shops and more recognisable national chains.

Below we have over 30 cottages within a short drive of the town.
