The West Country region

Besides the drama of the coast and moors. North Cornwall has yet another trick up its sleeve - in its great houses and gardens. Here you'll see a different kind of dramatic grandeur, and you'll be stepping into the upstairs-downstairs world of the Cornish gentry.

North Cornwall's history is packed with interest and events - and you don't have to delve into history books to get at it. Just visit one of the fine museums and you'll be walking into a showcase of life in times past.

The variety of coastal, moorland and valley trails in North Cornwall is ideal for two-wheeled touring. The most famous route is the Camel Trail, running 17 car-free miles from Bodmin through Wadebridge to Padstow along the beautiful Camel Valley

North Cornwall's secluded coves, sandy beaches and breathtaking cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop for watersports on the apron of the Atlantic. And it's easy to tap into the thrills: just check the tide, follow the lifeguards' advice, choose from boogie-boards to surf skis and splash your way into the centre of the action. If you've never had a crack at surfing, you've come to the right place.

Situated 3 miles from Newquay, Cornwall’s most popular resort. Major centre for surfing, Zoo, Golf Course, Trenance Leisure Park, Waterworld, Sea Life Aquarium, Tunnels through Time and plentiful night life. Fistral Beach is world famous for surfing and annual championships are held there in August. The Eden Project is situated approximately 18 miles from the cottage.

"Just perfect, in every way!"

I am so pleased my family and I chose to stay at Stable Cottage. The Cottage has been fitted out with everything you need for a short break away. It is quite roomy, yet has been furnished tastefully, so feels cosy and warm. It was clear extra thought had been given to the minor details; including a selection of magazines, DVDs and music collection for guests to use. We had our 18 month old son with us and the cottage came equipped with a high chair and portacot. This was great as it meant less for us to bring with us! Being self contained, we were also able to cook using the kitchen facilities. This was another big plus for us, as eating out every night adds hundreds to the holiday budget! Cleanliness was top notch also- it is obvious someone takes great care maintaining it to a high standard. The location is fabulous; only a stones thrown from Porth Beach. We based ourselves at the cottage and would venture out exploring the surrounding areas during the day. Heading back to the cottage of an evening was a pleasure! I would highly recommend Stable Cottage to anyone- in fact my family intend to visit on our recommendation later in the year!
