The West Country / Cornwall region
Aside from the stunning coastline Cornwall is filled with things to do and see.
There activities, destinations and attractions to meet all holiday requirements. The beaches are some of the best in the UK and of course there is the spectacular South West Coast Path and surrounding countryside to enjoy.
The area is home to the famous Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligon, Trerice, Bocastleand Tintagel are among the many interesting places to visit. A complete variety of visitor attractions to suit all tastes are situated throughout the area.
The Cornish climate is traditionally warmer than elsewhere in the UK and summers seem to last longer, often with plenty of sunshine and winters are mild, making it perfect for coastal walks, water sports or just relaxing on the beach.
There really is something for everyone in Cornwall.
The Newquay / Porth area
Porth is located just outside of Newquay making it close enough to enjoy all of the amenities but remaining a quiet, family friendly area. This also means that the main roads linking you to the rest of Cornwall can be access without having to pass the busy town centre.
Just a stroll from the Apartment will give you access to the beach café, the 'hole in the wall' ice cream parlour on the beach, Porth Stores convenience store and the Mermaid Inn public house with outdoor sun terrace onto which you can walk directly from the beach.
There is a choice of Supermarkets close at hand including Sainsburys, Tesco Express, Aldi and a Morrisons Superstore. To make things even more relaxing, why not consider pre-ordering your provisions to be delivered direct to the Apartment from Tesco.
A regular bus service passes through Porth making it easy to get about without having to use a car. Details of services are available from Western Greyhound
There are a number of coastal footpaths that can be taking from Porth, going into the centre of Newquay and out to the world famous Fistral Beach in one direction and over to Watergate Bay and beyond in the other.
For those looking for a fine dining experience, Jamie Olivers Fifteen is located close by at Watergate Bay with Rick Steins seafood restaurants a scenic drive away in Padstow together with the village of Rock. A regular passenger ferry service links Rock and Padstow making it easy to see both on a day trip.
Also close by is the Eden Project which also hosts a variety of concerts throughout the season.
Newquay itself offers a wealth of interest through the day and night ranging from unique local shops and cafes to traditional pubs and lively bars and clubs. A variety of live music events take place during the season spanning live bands nights in bars to the spectacle of the Relentless Boardmasters event at Watergate Bay in August.
A number of hotels cater for those looking to eat out, including the Porth Veor Manor which is a very short walk from the Apartment, the historic Headland Hotel and the Atlantic Hotel which also has a Champagne Bar. A recently opened branch of Pizza Express is a short walk away on the outskirts of Newquay town centre.
As you would expect from the UK Surf Capital there are facilities for surfers at any level, with lessons widely available for those looking to have a go for the first time or just to improve their skills. Board and wetsuit hire is also readily available in the town centre or at Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay. A selection of those providing hire and lessons include the Extreme Academy at Watergate Bay and The National Surfing Centre at Fistral Beach. You can keep up with the latest surf reports and news by visiting Magic Seaweed

We had a great nine day holiday & the apartment (#5) had everything you could wish for a family holiday in Cornwall. The location is ideal as you are virtually on Porth beach which makes it great for children & body boarding. The view from the apartment- morning /evening is fantastic as the apartment is on the top floor.. |

We really enjoyed our stay over new year in flat 3. The flat was lovely and warm, even when the winds were whistling outside. We were very comfortable, with all facilites you could possibly need. Having a washer/dryer was invaluable with two small kids and meant we didn't arrive home with stacks of washing. Its a lovely spot (nearest end to the beach) to watch all the action - mostly dog walkers and kite flyers out of season. We has some lovely wind-swept walks along the coast and along the beach when the tide was out. We will definitely be back again - summer or winter! |

Porth Sands is the ideal location for a holiday. You can be equally relaxed or active as the mood takes you. The apartment was so close to the beach you could enjoy it without the need to get sand in your sandwiches or inbetween your toes! The beach is absolutely perfect for all ages to enjoy & is the easiest to access in the area. The apartment was very comfortable & private, the balcony (apartment 5) giving the most splendid views of the beach. We loved the commercially unspoilt nature of Porth with only a few shops, cafe & pub in walking distance. The local Tapas bar is really worth a visit, the food was scrummy. The apartment was really well thought out & the internet access went down very well with both our teenage daughter & 6 year old son. We had exceptional weather that made it even harder to drag ourselves away from the luxury of the apartment. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone that enjoys sea view holidays & quality accommodation. The house keeper James was extremely friendly & welcoming & had we needed to contact him for anything he was only a few minutes away. |
