"Great family holiday at Poppy Barn"

My wife and our 2 boys (aged 3 and 4) loved our stay at Poppy Barn. It was a real grind to leave at the end of the week. It is part of 3 replica properties within a single barn conversion. The thing that stood out for us, was that even though we were sharing this space with 2 other families, it never really felt like anyone else was under your feet. It's designed in such a way that your own space isn't really infringed upon by any of the other guests, unless of course you want it to be (we both felt it would be a great location for a large family gathering if you booked all 3 barns).

The property itself is decorated to a very high standard with all the possible amenities you would need. The cream tea was a very nice touch to be presented with after over 7 hours spent on the road. While the property is set in it's own isolated meadow, you are just a couple of minutes drive from Quintrell Downs and a number of good pubs to grab a nice meal in the evening. Roughly 10 minutes drive away is Newquay with a lot more eating out options. We ate at the Bullpit Smokehouse, which was very good, and had amazing views out to Towan Beach where the boys were able to watch the surfers!

5 minutes from the property is a Morrisons, and there is also a Spa in Quintrell Downs if you ever run out of anything or decide on a last minute bbq!

We used Poppy Barn as a base for days out all around Cornwall, but you could quite comfortably stay relatively local for your whole stay without getting bored. It always felt like returning home each night at the end of a long day out. We enjoyed watching the sunset and the night drawing in across the meadow each evening from the comfort of the porch area or the couches.

Around the meadow, the boys had great fun going out with torches to spot the rabits and had great fun in the play park.

Our favourite trips were;
- St Mawes (we took the ferry from Falmouth). The boys (and me) loved exploring all the rock pools there to see what sea life we could find, and the water was so clear.
- St Ives Porthminster beach was probably the nicest beach we visited, and I would definitely recommend using the park and ride facilities (I think it was at a place called Saltings). For a few pounds we took a very scenic train ride right up to the beach side, so there was no stressing about finding a parking space near to the beach.
- DairyLand Farm World is well worth a visit if you have little ones, and for no extra charge you can return for free all week.
- Looe was a great full day out. We spent all day on the beach, then after a lovely evening meal in one of the many bistros there, the boys had their first experience of crabbing (which was a great laugh). There's also a good play park in the main car park there.

All in all, we had a great stay and are already thinking of returning for next year (which is something we wouldn't normally do as we like to try different places out each year).

The only negative I could think of was the lack of wifi (which would be a very welcome addition to the property)

"Fantastic view, great location, wish we were still there"

Fantastic views, very comfortable with everything you need.
The owners were lovely and the welcome gift of wine, flowers, home baked scones / cream tea and milk was very welcome. Plenty of parking. Choose your timing for coming out of the drive and turning right - in August we relied on other drivers letting us out, but it wouldn't put us of booking again. We were two families and rented two of the three barns. Our friends children loved the meadow and the play area, so much room to run around but it still didn't wear them out! Recommend this for couples or families. No WiFi but after the first couple of days I didn't miss it, too busy chasing kids around the meadow, drinking wine on the terrace and looking at those views . . . . .

"Fantastic views and a great base"

Had a week at Poppy Barn and we were not dissapointed. Great location only ten mins from Newquay with lovely views from big sliding door windows over a valley.
Rooms were a great size and spotless, everything we needed was supplied and the addition of a cream tea waiting for us on arrival made up for our long journey.
I would definately come back here if visiting the area again and would recommend it to anyone.

"We will be back!"

This is our second time staying at Poppy barn and it was as good as our first stay a year ago! The barn is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. It was extreemly clean and has great views across the fields. The location is ideal for getting arround cornwall being close to newquay and the pub down the road is within walking distance however there is no path and it a little scary walking home after a few drinks! We will be back to stay again for sure on our next visit to Cornwall.
