The West Country region
Porth, with it's fantastic family beach, it's island famous for it's iron age settlement and water spout is just to the east of the superb surfing beaches of Newquay. Positioned centrally on the North coast of Cornwall with it's rugged cliff tops and beautiful sandy beaches it makes it the ideal location for exploring the diverse landscape Cornwall has to offer by car, bus, train or simply by taking in the breathtaking sights whilst walking along the amazing coastal path that stretches from Bude to Saltash.
Cornwall, a county steeped in history and heritage, located at the foot of England, stretches into the Atlantic Ocean on the South Western tip of England and boasts a climate somewhat milder to the rest of the UK making it an ideal holiday destination for those wanting to holiday close to home. From the coast to the moors, the old tin mines to the castles there is something for everyone in Cornwall.
Newquay is the perfect holiday destination for couples and families alike with it's many attractions, restaurants and sporting activities the town has to offer.
Within the boundaries of Newquay there are numerous restaurants from Greek to Mexican to traditional pub food. There is an Aquarium, a Zoo, a Cinema, Horse riding, a golf course and of course many surfing beaches most of which have activity centres based on them making it easy for you to take those surf lessons you always wanted to try.
Watergate Bay, 15 minutes by car from Porth boasts Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' restaurant whilst Padstow, a half an hour drive up the coast is the location for Rick Steins famous fish restaurant.
Further afield, although still only a short drive away are the heritage sites of the Eden project in St Austell, the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth and Heartlands in Camborne focusing on Cornwalls Tin mining.
