The West Country / Cornwall region

Besides the drama of the coast and moors. North Cornwall has yet another trick up its sleeve - in its great houses and gardens. Here you'll see a different kind of dramatic grandeur, and you'll be stepping into the upstairs-downstairs world of the Cornish gentry.
North Cornwall's history is packed with interest and events - and you don't have to delve into history books to get at it. Just visit one of the fine museums and you'll be walking into a showcase of life in times past.
The variety of coastal, moorland and valley trails in North Cornwall is ideal for two-wheeled touring. The most famous route is the Camel Trail, running 17 car-free miles from Bodmin through Wadebridge to Padstow along the beautiful Camel Valley
North Cornwall's secluded coves, sandy beaches and breathtaking cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop for watersports on the apron of the Atlantic. And it's easy to tap into the thrills: just check the tide, follow the lifeguards' advice, choose from boogie-boards to surf skis and splash your way into the centre of the action. If you've never had a crack at surfing, you've come to the right place.
