Trewrach Cottage is a 400 year old newly restored, self-catering cottage, featuring an inglenook fire place with an ancient stone bread oven together with a wood burner, wood provided. Sleeps 1 - 6. Family friendly and suitable for all ages. Games room with pool table, table football and table tennis. This cottage is cozy and the perfect relaxation for family fun and entertainment or a secluded romantic getaway an area designated in its own right for its unspoilt natural beauty.

Beauty Treatments are now avaliable at this Cottage! Massage, Manicures, Pedicures, Facials etc. So why not take an evening of & pamper yourself to the perfect relaxation!

The village of Dinas Cross has a petrol station, Post office, supermarket, chip shop and eating pubs. The village is 2 km from the cottage. Fishguard town 4 km away, previously a Viking settlement & friendly, restaurants, shops & supermarkets - Newport 7 km away restaurants, shops and beach.

The kitchen overlooks an ancient orchard where foxes and badgers can be observed at night under a dimmer light. During the day numerous birds, (food provided) can also be identified feeding in the orchard.

The kitchen has a kettle, toaster, iron, washer / dryer, dish washer, gas cooker, microwave, fridge / freezer. Seating 6.

The cottage is extremely well sheltered with an open southern vestige of Garn Fawr’s ancient volcanic dome, making the property a fantastic sun trap and ideal for enjoying outdoor lunch / dinner using our 4 burner barbecue and evening relaxation by the outdoor wood burner, wood is provided.

Many cycle routes available. Walks along the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park lead to further pre planned (from local knowledge) inland farm and mountain routes. Ideal for walkers or families.

A lot of the planning and information gathering is done for you. Games room with pool, table football and table tennis.

Further details

Rental is from 4.00pm Saturday to 10.30am the next Saturday. A 1/3 deposit is required on booking.

Oil, electricity, wood, and bird feed are included in the rental rates.

There are no surcharges or booking fees. Feedback welcome to help improve the stay of future visitors.

Conditions

Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage but welcome to out on the terrace. Towels and tea towels are not provided.

With CCTV to owl / woodpecker nesting boxes also badger / fox watch Trewrach Fach is great for wildlife lovers. In your own private woods take a 15 minute river bank walk to nearby Aber Bach beach, great for swimming, building sand castles, crabbing in rock pools and canoeing. Numerous other beaches and bays, golf, walking, cycling, horse riding, both sea (lobster & mackerel) and river (salmon) fishing, and sailing are common activities.

Visit Fishguard tapestry, St Daivds Cathedral, Castell Henllys stone age fort. Late night restaurants and take away meals along with banks, supermarkets, shops and a cinema are in Fishguard.

“Return Visit” The Stokes family with Auntie Doris returned to Trewrach for another weeks holiday. As before, the cottage was warm, cosy and extremely comfortable. Feroza very kindly arranged for milk, tea and Welsh cakes on our arrival along with a bottle of vino. Once again we chose to have our groceries delivered by Tesco which saved the need to go shopping after a long drive. We were blessed with wall to wall sunshine , warm where shelted but cold in the westerly wind which prevailed. The coastal walk from Carreg Pen-las to Dinas Island is a must and is reached along a delightful path from the cottage either from the garden or through the farm buildings. Clusters of primroses, Celandines and Bladder Campions bloom along the pathways and banks and the sweet smell of Gorse is in evidence along the entire walk. The walk ends at the Old Sailors Restaurant where you can sit in the sunshine and enjoy a well deserved ice-cream. The Golden Lion in Newport is worth a visit but book in advance and be prepared to park the car down the road as parking is very limited. Trewrach is in a fine position, quiet and off the beaten track. The sign for the cottage is barely visible from the A487 coming from Fishguard so beware. Mobile phone coverage is not possible from the cottage but a short walk above the cottage and you are ok. Who needs Wi-fi which is not available when you can you see badgers outside your back door everynight and watch the birds feed in such close proximity. A rare privilidge, made possible by the generosity of Huw and Feroza who provide free feed for both ! You will never find more helpful, kind and friendly hosts.

“Superb cottage in a beautiful area” A well equipped and characterful cottage, the wood burner adds a cosy feel. The games room is good for youngsters when the weather is poor. We enjoyed the local wildlife, especially the badgers which could be seen right next to the cottage. There are lots of good walks close by, we recommend the coastal path round Dinas Head(we made it round with our 4yr old). Good eating places are within 10 minutes drive, the Golden Lion at Newport had both good food and atmosphere. Other places worth the trip are St David's, Cwm Gwaum valley and the fabulous beach at Tenby, there are many other places also. We really enjoyed our stay and you won't meet a more friendly owner than Huw.

“nice to have a relaxed vacation” What a nice Cottage, well equipped, and very nice styled! Would come back again! Was a great place and a good "head-quarter" to discover the west-coast of Wales. Trips to north and south are possible, such as Strumble head, St. Davids and Aberystwyth.

“A well equipped, peaceful base to explore N Pembroke and relax in!” Trewrach Cottage is indeed a lovely cottage set far enough away from the owners residence to give that added seclusion but not too far to cause concern if there was an issue. It's been tastefully fitted out and is really well equipped with full sky tv, radio, a big games room (pool and table tennis). Huw and Ferosa give you a good introduction to the cottage and surrounding area....even offered us fresh lobster! Inside, there's also plenty of area information and the visitor's book is also very useful for recommendations. We had a fantastic time....exploring the area, eating out and when eating in, watching the badgers just outside the kitchen door! A wonderful place that we intend on returning to.

“An oasis of peace and quiet” Our first sighting of Trewrach promised a week of peace & solitude surrounded by scenery that made you sigh every time you returned to the cottage after a days coastal walking. Trewrach Cottage has been tastefully restored to a very high standard offering both warmth and comfort in equal measures. Huw & Feroza have actively encouraged good suggestions in order to create a good visitor experience. Tea, sugar, milk, Welsh cakes & a good bottle of wine greet you on your arrival along with a truly warm welcome from Huw & Feroza. Nothing is too much trouble for these kind people which we discovered when we required assistance from Huw when our car refused to start. He even insisted we keep is jump leads until we were sure they were no longer required. The real magic of Trewrach is the wildlife & thanks to the generosity of our hosts who supplied buckets of bird seed and peanuts, we enjoyed daily visits from Chaffinches, BlueTits, Gold Finches & Robins who fed from the bird table outside the dining room French doors. The highlight came nightly when we were visited by the resident family of Badgers, sometimes 3 in number. They enjoyed the supply of peanuts and other goodies left in the trays under the bird table. How privileged we were to take photos every night safe in the knowledge that our presence was accepted by these nocturnal creatures only a few feet away. This wildlife extended to Ceibwr where we spied 2 Grey Seals cavorting in the boisterous surf. We observed, lizards, tiny frogs and even Tadpoles ! Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Huw and his helper in keeping down the invading undergrowth, we enjoyed a very pleasant amble from the cottage down a wooded track to the little bay below where we spent time skimming stones. If you want to sample a really scrumptious organic home made lunch, try Lou Lou's in Newport and for an evening meal, the Golden Lion. You must book the Golden Lion at weekends and parking can be tight. We have experienced the delights of many UK cottages but Trewrach ranks at the very top, mainly due to its kind hearted, generous hosts, the fabulous cottage and the eye watering Pembrokeshire coastline. Footnote - Arrange for your groceries to be delivered by Tesco. Why waste time shopping when you could be savouring the delights of Trewrach sipping an ice cold glass of wine on the sunny terrace.

“Lovely cottage, great location and perfect for walks and wildlife” Situated in a quiet rural location down a narrow country lane, but still close enough to the A487 for easy access to the surrounding area. The property is close to the coastal path and has lots of great places to visit within easy reach. There were plenty of useful maps, leaflets and guidebooks supplied by the owners. The accommodation itself is an excellent conversion/renovation which has created a really cosy and comfortable cottage. It is very well appointed with good quality appliances throughout and it also benefits from under floor heating and a log burner, so was always nice and warm. It really is a haven for wildlife, with a variety of birds including jays and woodpeckers and we enjoyed nightly visits from the badgers that came right up to the back door! Bird seed, nuts and logs for the fire were all included, which was a nice touch. The walk through the woods to Aber Bach beach was quite wet and muddy (after a particularly wet April), so wellies or walking boots recommended. Alternatively you can use the quiet single track road down to the beach, which is a bit longer, but avoids the mud! If you prefer a larger beach, it's well worth the short drive to Newport sands which offers a lovely long sandy beach. The games room is located in a separate barn to the main cottage and was a nice addition for those rainy days. One thing to be aware of is the cottage is advertised as being suitable for people with restricted mobility, which we disagree with. There are quite steep steps leading down to the property and also a high bath tub, both of which could cause problems for the elderly or infirm. All in all though we had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage and would definitely recommend to others.

“A week of peace and tranquility” A very cosy secluded cottage surrounded by wildlife. Enjoyed a lovely week despite mixed weather. The owners were lovely and on hand if you needed anything but never intrusive. The highlight was the three badgers that visited nightly for peanuts and fried bread! Lovely 15 min walk to the beach from the cottage although needed wellies as it was a bit wet. Would recommend for a peaceful away from it all vacation. Would love to return in the future.

“Peaceful Location” Trewrach cottage is situated in a peaceful stunning location.The only noise we heard to wake us was the birdsong! We were given a very friendly welcome(despite arriving in the middle of Wales' Six Nation Victory) by Huw and Feroza,and Huw spent time with us going through the cottage,explaining how everything worked,giving us lots of local information of activities to do and walks we could go on.The cottage is wonderfully equipped,and the wood burner a real treat after a days walking.Although we never used the games room,(the weather was too good!),it was an added treat.Nice walk to the local beach,though a bit wet on our walk down,we returned via the lane,during which we didn't see a single car. The Dinas Head walk was lovely with stunning views along the coast,with The Old Sailors Pub over looking the beach,at the end for a refreshing pint! Strumble Head walk was challenging but wonderful,Portclais to Abberiddi a charming stroll viewing Pembrokes industrial past,The Sloop Inn worth a visit.The hi light of the week was the wildlife,small birds galore,blue and great....,chaffinches,sparrows,jays,magpies,and daily visits from the woodpeckers.Huw has set up a nest box camera,which we checked daily just incase...not long now before it has a resident.We heard the tawny owl but he remained elusive! The badgers were a true delight,they visited us every night,a couple of times we saw two and on one occasion we were very lucky and saw three together.We fed them their daily diet of peanuts,sat back and waited for their visits,did keep the dog well hidden though in the sitting room. A perfect week,in a perfect cottage,in a stunning location.Will definately return to finish the coastal path,and to see the wonderful badgers again!

“Loved the cottage and the location” We had a fantastic Christmas here, the cottage is beautiful and had everything we needed for a great holiday. The surroundings are amazing too. We all enjoyed our time at Trewrach Cottage so much that we'll almost certainly be going back some time. Thanks so much for a very special Xmas.

“Supurb!” We stayed at Trewrach Cottage last weekend. The cottage is immaculate set in a fabulous landscape. Close to a private beach and not far from the main beaches in the area (Newport, Poppit Sands, Newgale). We had a wonderful warm welcome and our needs (with 2 dogs) were well catered for. The cottage has been thoughtfully rennovated with some lovely features, like the log burner. Mr Badger also came to visit us one evening!
