The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region

The north coast of Pembrokeshire has cliffs and coves, places to explore and enjoy. Visitors will find attractive and affordable places to visit and eat in. The National Park includes a swathe of open country in the Prescelli hills which are very close to Dinas village (1 mile). Pwllgwaelod is a sandy cove facing Fishguard bay, and Cwm-yr-Egwys a similar cove facing Newport Bay. These beaches provide safe swimming and have natural shelter. The area has plenty of history - ancient chapels, monuments and burial sites, and St Davids Cathedral.
The Newport / Pwllgwaelod area
Riding, boats and swimming, walking, and some great off-road bike trails make N Pembs a place for where you can enjoy activities at reasonable prices and without crowds. There's a lot of culture, Brynhenllan village having a number of well known artists as residents. The St Davids music festival in the cathedral, the Fishguard Music Festival and other music activities such as Cardigan Eisteddfod, male voice choirs all provide different and memorable evenings. Being outside busy Newport can be a bonus in the summer season. You can borrow my 14ft Skipper dinghy if you're a competent sailor. There is a bike at the cottage, and another available.

This was a perfect holiday cottage for a family of 4. Well equipped, deceptively spacious and a real little home from home. Cwym-yr-Eglwys beach is a perfect spot for fishing, boating, swimming and snorkelling - and our 7 and 10 year old children could walk there safely on their own without having to use any main roads. The local shop in Dinas Cross (10 mins stroll) stocks pretty much everything you'll need, plus Newport and Fishguard are a short drive away. Newport has lots of fantastic cafes and restaurants. To sum up - a perfect holiday destination. We will definitely return. |
