This perfect hide away, is a detached lime washed cottage in an idyllic setting at the head of the Gwaun Valley in Pembrokeshire, with lovely views of Carningli Mountain. There are over 3 acres of grounds for you to wander, to enjoy the scenery and wildlife which includes foxes, badgers, pond life including visiting otters trying to catch fish. - 54 species of birds have been spotted so far!

There are some superb walks either up and around Carn Ingli Mountain or down the beautiful Gwaun Valley.The Coastal Path can be joined 3 miles away at Newport, which offers a good selection of eateries, pubs, shops and galleries.

The Cottage has only recently been completely refurbished and offers a happy blend of contemporary and traditional features.

Entrance is via a stable door into the hallway and through to the:

Light and airy open-plan SITTING ROOM and KITCHEN/DINING ROOM. There is a high ceiling with Velux windows and exposed 'A' frame beams and a slate flagstone floor with underfloor heating. There is a woodburning stove on a slate hearth, leather corner sofa, wooden armchair, coffee table, colour TV with DVD and Freeview, a good selection of books and games and attractive accessories.

The KITCHEN is fitted with a range of cream Shaker style units with oak block worktop, integral ceramic hob, electric fan oven, microwave oven / grill, dishwasher, fridge / freezer and automatic washing machine.

The DINING AREA has an attractive modern round table with 4 chairs.

The hallway leads to the BEDROOM which has exposed beams, a high set window with a stained glass hanging and slate floor with underfloor heating and Kelim rug. The room has views of Carn Ingli Mountain and is furnished with twin beds (which can be pushed together if desired), TV, bedside tables, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The beds will be made up with fresh white bedding for your arrival.

The BATHROOM has a slate floor with underfloor heating and heated towel rail, a white suite, of bath, WC, wash hand basin, and separate shower cubicle.

Garden and Parking

There is a private garden for the cottage accessed from the main drive and via the double doors in the kitchen. The garden is mainly set to lawn, with a border of mature shrubs, some huge boulders, attractive planting, garden furniture and a barbecue.

There is parking space for 2 cars.

Other Information

The oil fired underfloor heating is included in the rental from May to September. October to April is charged for at a flat rate of £25 per week, payable to the owner. An initial basket of logs is provided - thereafter available at cost from the owners, who live in the main house, or from the local shops.

A travel cot (with changing mat) and highchair are available by prior arrangement.

No smoking.

Towels are provided, however, please bring your own beach towels.

Regretfully, no pets.

There is a small BBQ and bike storage available.

The compact nature of the cottage makes it unsuitable for children, however in exceptional circumstances an infant could be accommodated.

The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

Pembrokeshire's attraction is its peace and tranquility which has a hypnotic effect on visitors who return year after year, if not more frequently. The coastline and villages have changed very little over the centuries.

The superb sandy beaches and quiet coves, once the haunt of smugglers, are around every twist and turn of the coastal lanes. Both on the coast and in the Preseli hills there is a profusion of beautiful wild flowers, encouraged by the mild climate, high sunshine hours and influenced by the Gulf Stream. Pembrokeshire is a haven for nature lovers with foxes, badgers and birds too numerous to mention literally on your doorstep.

Newport is defined by its beach - the name in Welsh, Trefdraeth, simply means "Town on the Sands". Newport houses are now amongst the most expensive in West Wales, not simply because of the character of the town or the "golden" sands, but because it is such a complete holiday centre on a par with Tenby, Saundersfoot & St. Davids

Newport has a bit of everything you could ever really want or need in a holiday destination. There is a diverse range of artist's studios, galleries, pubs, restaurants, individual shops and a Boat Club and Golf Club. Couple this with a wide range of excellent walks along the coastal path and up to Carn Ingli for the panoramic views and you can see why this little town has such appeal. Traeth Mawr is the big Beach and is a long stretch of sand, safe for bathing, windsurfing, body boarding and sailing. The Nevern Estuary is a haven for wild life and is a favourite among bird watchers. A walk from the Iron Bridge along the footpath to the side of the estuary leads to the Parrog where there is a small beach, Café Bar and Boat Club. During the summer months the Boat club organise various activities including sailing, crab lining and occasional BBQ's. On a summer evening the Parrog is a good place to watch the sunset or chat with the friendly locals. Carn Ingli (Angel Mountain) stands 350 m high above Newport. It is not difficult to climb and the summit is rocky. Once you have made it to the top there are fantastic views over Newport and the bay below and you can even see Ireland on a very clear day.
