Carnigli mountain is approximately 1 hours walk from the cottage to the summit. The area is renowned for superb bird watching, with many migrating birds settling on the Nevern Estuary en route to further lands. Newport has an excellent choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants, all within easy walking distance of the cottage.

The downstairs accommodation comprises of a lounge/dining room with wooden floors and original beams throughout. There is an18th century ingle nook fireplace complete with original bread oven. There is a comfortable 3 piece suite in the living area, and plenty of occasional tables with lamps, giving the rooms a cosy glow. The digital television has freesat. There is also a DVD player with dvd's available.
The dining area comprises of a dining table and 6 chairs. There is a large book case filled with books varying from biographies, fiction and non fiction for your use. A CD /radio player is on top of the bookcase. The downstairs bathroom has a shower cubicle with power shower and has a rail for elderly/infirm.
The kitchen is fully fitted with all conveniences these include fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, gas hob and oven, and a large George Foreman grill. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery. The kitchen opens out into a small private, sunny courtyard with a patio table and four chairs with cushions and parasol.
Upstairs consists of two bedrooms. The first bedroom is a double with bedside cabinets and lamps either side of the bed. There is a fitted wardrobe in this room. The second bedroom has twin beds, with bedside cabinets and lamps. There is a wardrobe in this bedroom with plenty of coat hangers. This bedroom has a foldaway bed for the 5th person staying in the cottage.
Next to this bedroom is the upstairs bathroom comprising of a toilet and sink, with a velux window in the roof. All the upstairs accommodation has sloping ceilings and orignal exposed beams.

There is a small south westerly facing courtyard, with patio table, four chairs and cushions with matching parasol. There is also a small shed and storage box with plenty of beach toys, games equipment tennis racquets, cricket bat and balls, fishing nets and bucket and spades for the beach.

Newport is in the Pembrokeshire National Park. It is an area ideal for walking, bird watching and water activities. The RSPB islands of Skomer and Ramsay are well worth a visit. It is 20 miles to the cathedral city of St Davids and the county town of Haverfordwest.. There are many golf courses in the county of Pembrokeshire, combining links and parkland. Oakwood Theme Park is a 40 minute journey by car and there are other numerous activities available for children of all ages. The port of Fishguard is only 8 miles away and it is possible to take a day trip to Ireland. There is an information folder, brochures, leaflets and road maps in the cottage.
The Newport area
Newport is steeped in history and is an old port that was known for coal and lime. There are plenty of fishing available, both course and seafishing.The Pembrokeshire coastal path is a 2 minute stroll from the cottage. There are many sightseeing destinations in close by. The cottage is in the same street as St Marys Church. There is also a Norman castle in the town. Overlooking Newport is Carningli mountain (Mount of Angels). Carningli is approximately an hours walk from the cottage to the summit, where the views are spectacular. There is a choice of clean and safe beaches within walking distance from the cottage. Wind surfing is a popular sport as is canoeing and rowing. Newport has a boat club and the Parrog Beach is very popular. The golf course is 2 miles away by car, but can be reached via the coastal path easily if walking. Nearby is the village of Nevern with the famous bleeding yew tree at St Brynachs Church and the circle of standing stones at Pentre Ifan. There are craft fairs held throughout the year and a weekly farmers market in the main street every Monday throughout the year. Newport also hosts an annual regatta and boat race.

Stayed in a lot of holiday rentals this cottage was the best equiped of them all. It is in an excellent postion for the town and a short walk to the beach and cliff walks. Would diffinately stay agin. |
