Pond Cottage is a farm building in the manor of Horringford, once the home of Oliver Cromwell's grandson.

Converted in 2009, it is fitted to a very high standard with modern comfortable furnishings and all mod cons including TVs, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave and central heating. We can provide extra freezer space if you run out.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms (one en-suite). There is a second bathroom and an open-plan kitchen dining area and lounge. It has its own lawn and outside seating area with furniture and barbecue equipment. A badminton set is also available. Note that the bathrooms contain showers, but not baths.

The lounge has two 2-seater settees and there are armchairs in both bedrooms. A cot and high chair are available on request.

The pond is real and close by, which may be a consideration if you have young children. There is adjacent parking for two vehicles.

The setting is quiet and rural, but also central, making an ideal base from which to explore the Island and enjoy its amenities. It is within easy reach of all the Island's best resorts. Newport, with its shops, multiplex cinema, restaurants and pubs is a ten-minute drive away.

The yachting centre of Cowes is only twenty minutes away and ample storage for sails, dinghies, etc., can be provided if required. With direct access to the A23 cross Island cycle track, Horringford lies at the heart of the Island's extensive network of bridleways, cycle and footpaths, giving access to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of the Island. None of the Island's beaches is more than a short drive away.

The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight is situated a few miles from Portsmouth and Southampton (the main ports of entry) and resembles a diamond in shape. It is roughly 23 miles across and 13 miles north to south, and over half is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The Island hosts major events, including the Isle of Wight Festival, Cowes Week, Bestival and Walking & Cycling Festivals and there is always something to do - or you can just laze on the beach...

Newport, Isle of Wight

Horringford is on the main Newport to Sandown road (A3056) and either is a ten-minute drive. The cottage is away from the road and is accessed down a tree-lined avenue. It is quiet and secluded and is close to a disused railway track that is now used for cycling.
