The Midlothian region

Scotland is famed for its history and heritage, golf and whisky, and the friendliness of its people.

It is a smallish country and it is easy to make many day trips from our apartment to different parts of the country.

Newington

Edinburgh is a Capital city in every sense.

It is home to the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe Festival which is the largest festival of arts, culture, music, dance, books and comedy in the world in August 2012 the Fringe sold 1,857,202 tickets for a record 2,695 shows in 279 venues across the city - and all of that in only 4 weeks!

But there is more to Edinburgh than just the festivals. It is famous for its heritage, culture, festivals, history, parks and places of interest. It is leading Scotland's renaissance in wining and dining, theatre, clubbing and entertainment from morning to late into the night.

It is a conference city, a centre for business and has some fantastic shopping experiences for those whose idea of relaxation includes a heft dose of retail therapy!

"Spacious, roomy and comfortable!"

Perfect location for our family. Easy to get into the city centre as bus stops outside door. Fringe Festival was on.... so it was nice to get away from all the hustle and bustle. We had the opportunity to go for walks towards Arthurs Seat and the little village of Duddingston which has one of the oldest pubs "Sheep Heid Inn" and oldest church Duddingston Kirk. Lovely scenery and so rich in history. Good chinese take away right on the block. Not so much a fan of the many stairs, but grateful now for the exercise! We would defintely stay again and big thanks to Sandy and family!
