Just refurbished the Old Stables at The Brow is a very spacious stone built 2 bedroom (1 twin, 1 kingsize) property that is both in the countryside with walks and cycling from the door yet just over 15mins drive from Newcastle town centre, with good public transport links too both this city and also Hexham and other popular locations within the Tyne Valley (details below).

Accommodation upstairs comprises two bedrooms, a new bathroom with separate shower and bath, a new open plan kitchen, lounge & dining area. The lounge includes a sofa bed which can accommodate an extra guest on request.

Downstairs is an entrance area with cuboards and a new washing machine, separate dryer and large area suitable for storage of bikes or other large items. This upstairs apartment can cater for all ages. Parking is in the courtyard between the old stables and the owners main house. The location lends itself to both weekend breaks and longer stays with many attractions located nearby. We are equally flexible for longer stays such as between house moves.

Located conveniently just off the A69 in the small village of Wylam (famous for its railway heritage, fishing and cycling) you are 2 minutes walk from local shops, chemist, post office, excellent pubs and a café. A bus stop is just outside the drive and the train station is a 10 minute walk providing links to Newcastle (20mins) and the Metrocentre (10mins) or historic Hexham and Corbridge. The bike track along Tyne is immediately accessible. A children's park is 5 minutes walk a way. The river, with many beautiful walks and fishing, is a few minutes walk.

Nearby attractions include: George Stephenson's cottage (short walk), Cherryburn, Prudhoe Castle, Close House Golf course. Easily accessible are Northumberland's many attractions such as Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick Castle, and many others see www.visitnorthumberland.com for links.

As we have just renovated, the flat and area outside is all non smoking. Similarly for others enjoyment we can only allow pets by agreement if they could stay out of the carpeted areas, bedrooms and off furnishings. Travel cot available on request

Equally there is plenty to do on foot or to reach by train or bus

Days out include:

-Walking to George Stephensons cottage (National Trust) and along the Tyne then finishing at one of the cafes or 3 excellent pubs.

-Cycling to Ovingham along the Tyne or even back on the circuit to Newburn finishing with a Chinese from our local takeaway

-A bus trip from very near the doorstep to Corbridge and hexham via English Heritages- http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/corbridge-roman-town-hadrians-wall/

-A train trip to Newcastle shopping (or closer is the metrocentre) and the many museums and attractions see www.newcastlegateshead.com

-A drive to Wallington or Gibside both great national trust estates. Perhaps finish with formal dinning at Close House.

"Very comfortable, clean and well appointed flat"

Had very enjoyable stay here. Loved the walks by the river and the local history of Hexham and Prudhoe Castle. An excellent base for watching cricket at Chester le Street. Access very good via road. Places to eat out were more limited than we had expected but did find bar food at The Ship Inn (Mon - Thurs). Also Chinese take away. Used cooker in flat for pizza and chips from local Spar shop.
