Petty Knowes Cottage is the quintessential rural hideaway for couples. Perched above the small village of Rochester it commands breathtaking uninterrupted views across the Northumberland National Park. Only a 30 minute drive from newcastle, making it a perfect location to explore Northumberland and newcastle.
Recently assessed by visit Britain the cottage has been awarded a four star gold award.
Built from attractive stone, the property has been newly renovated to offer cosy and immaculately presented accommodation for a real homely romantic retreat. The lounge has a 42" Freeview TV and open fire; idyllic to gaze into and watch the flames dance after a day exploring this most northerly of National Parks. The contemporary kitchen is well equipped and there is a fresh and modern shower room. The spacious bedroom at the end of the building boasts a majestic king size sleigh bed.
Guests have private use of a garden with decked area, a perfect spot to dine alfresco and watch the sun set.
Guests also have access to the owners hot tub and sauna.

Attached to the owners' property where access to the cottage is via an uneven gravel single track, it is accessible for most vehicles. Visitors to Petty Knowes Cottage are welcome to use the owners' hot tub adjacent. Robes and slippers are provided.
The property is all on ground floor level has oil central heating and comprises:
Lounge: With open fire, Freeview 42" TV, DVD player and selection of DVDs, Iphone dock, Wi-fi and sofa bed (for + 2)
Kitchen: With electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer
Dining Area: With fold out dining table and chairs for two
Bedroom: With king sized sleigh bed, log burning stove, Freeview 42"TV.. Wi-fi.
Shower Room: With corner shower cubicle, WC and wash basin
All oil, electricity, bed linen and towels included. First baskets of logs provided. Cot and high chair available. Wi-fi facility throughout.
Private garden area with decked area and outdoor seating. Access to cottage is via single unmade track. Pets are welcome although please be aware there is livestock in surrounding fields and hens and cats roam freely.
Off road parking.

You can pop off to the local pub for lunch & then watch the sun set over the hills from the comfort of the hot tub.
The cottage is located centrally within Kielder dark sky park.

Petty Knowes Cottage with its central location is perfect for exploring the whole of Northumberland.
From exploring Hadrians wall, the coastal route with its many castles and museums, shopping & restaurants in Newcastle.
Located close to Otterburn training area it provides an excellent location for walking & cycling.

Great location, great hosts, perfect in everyway. Arrived to a warm welcome; followed by a guided tour of cottage, and even had an afternoon tea of sandwiches, cream scones and wine awaiting us after the long journey. Even our dog was allowed to join us. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. Such a tranquil retreat, I would highly recommend this to anybody who is looking for a bit of a break. Would definitely visit again.
