The Tyne and Wear region

The Northumberland coastline is a land far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in a county brimming with places to see and things to do amongst the most spectacular of landscapes.

North East England really is a gem of an area that simply must be discovered! It offers wide variety, from exhilarating coastline with its blue flag beaches and acres of beautiful and tranquil countryside, to cultural contemporary cities and rich heritage sites.

Highlights are the incredible Hadrian's Wall, a 73 mile World Heritage Site, the Angel of the North, one of most viewed pieces of public art in the world, Durham Cathedral, a magnificent World Heritage Site, and The Sage Gateshead, a simply stunning building playing host to music from around the world.

Also home to the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Beamish Open Air Museum, akin to taking a journey in a time machine, Holy Island, Alnwick Garden, and Bamburgh Castle. There really is something for everyone here, and lots of choice for shopaholics, including the hugely popular Metro Centre and Eldon Square shopping malls. There is also an abundance of bars and restaurants, many serving delicious local produce.

Explore mile upon mile of gloriously uncrowded golden sandy beaches and stunning countryside set amongst two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland National Park. Discover more castles than anywhere else in England, the birthplace of English Christianity on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the historic World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, stunning Alnwick Garden picturesque towns and villages and much more.

There are plenty of golf courses and lots of activities and some great walking.
