Lodge | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
You would be most welcome to enjoy a relaxing break in the nature-rich woods in a lovely comfortable chalet in West Wales.
Our family lodge sleeps up to 6 people, and unlike many holiday sites you can bring your pet too at no extra charge (make sure you inquire about this when booking). The wooden Swiss-chalet type lodge has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed. The second and third bedrooms have a single bed with a slide out bed which can be used as twins or a double bed.
There is a well-equipped kitchen with gas cooker, fridge with a small freeze box, and microwave. This is complimented by a lovely lounge with dining area. A bathroom with bath and shower over it completes the indoor accommodation. The lounge area has a widescreen television complete with freeview and a DVD player. The large decking area outside adds additional living space which is perfect for barbeques, or simply relaxing on the table and chair set whilst you watch the squirrels and varied bird life.
Taking time out means that you want to relax and enjoy yourselves in the beautiful surrounding area. This part of West Wales is stunning and unspoilt, with some beautiful coastline and countryside to enjoy. The chalet is situated close to the coast, with several beaches all no more than half an hours drive away, and there is a distinct Welsh flavour both to the language you will hear, and the local food you can enjoy.
If you are feeling more adventurous then there are plenty of opportunities for this as well, with many nearby outdoor activities.
PENLAN HOLIDAY VILLAGE; about the site itself........
It is set on a large woodland site with approximately 90 other privately owned well-spaced lodges (forget Butlins entirely!) and is very peaceful, with many varieties of bird life and squirrels too.
Our Torwood lodge is one of the biggest styles. It is a lovely green site, with the lodges built interspersed with trees throughout. There is a tourist information room with leaflets; a bar serving drinks and reasonable meals in season; an outdoor heated swimming pool open in the summer season; a small site shop; a children's play ground with swings, slides and climbing frame; and a dog walking area. A pet is welcome.
The coast is a 20-minute drive away, and the spectacular Cenarth waterfalls are just down the road.
THIS IS A NO-SMOKING LODGE, PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE INDOORS.
A single dog is welcome at no extra charge, but for hygiene reasons not in the bedrooms. If you wish to bring more than one dog, please contact us directly for details regarding this.
There are coin-operated washing and drying machines on site, and we have some drying facilities in the lodge.

The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
Nestled in the centre of the stunning Teifi Valley, our lodge is in an region renowned for its distinctive Welsh character, stunning West Wales Coastline and famous Cenarth Falls.
The flow of the river Teifi has shaped the landscape, with the rugged coastline adding to its character and distinctive feel. Iron and Stone age relics remain, including standing stones and burial chambers. The region has ancient traditions that have emerged from the specifics of this countryside by fishing and travelling via coracles. These simple oval light boats are constructed by bent sticks covered with hide or skins requiring great skill to control!
The landscape has lent itself to farming, with sheep and bees producing local lamb and honey with distinctive flavours and characteristics. The region has a tranquil quality which holidaymakers return to year after year.
Situated in the popular holiday region of West Wales, Penlan holiday village is just up the road from Cenarth which is renowned for its spectacular waterfalls where the salmon leap as they make their way up the river Teifi. The quaintly attractive post office in Cenarth is the place to purchase salmon fishing permits (when the salmon are in season). You may see people in coracle boats where the river widens after the waterfall.
Our lodge is a short drive from Cardigan, a town which has great heritage including a castle and numerous shops. The retail experience is enhanced by local Welsh independent shops as well as well-known outlets plus banking and postal facilities. Cardigan often hosts local events which are really popular with tourists and locals alike, and retains a strong Welsh influence with many bilingual folk.
The countryside is a stunning mixture of hills and valleys, rivers and woods, offering excellent and varied walks. The lodge is a mere half an hour's drive from many of the stunning and diverse beaches which the Cardigan Bay coast offers. Each has something unique to offer a visitor, including Poppit Sands, Penbryn, Mwnt, Tresaith, Aberporth, New Quay and Llangrannog. For example, Mwnt beach is reached by winding steps, and has an ancient church nestled in the foot of the short but steep hill which overlooks it. The coastline is made more accessible by various boat trips, Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park
For those wanting a bit more excitement, look no further than Cenarth Paintball for a fun adventure! Family fun days out can be had at Heatherton Park, Folly Farm and Oakwood Theme Park. More gentle excursions can be enjoyed at Felinwynt Rainforest & Butterfly Centre, The National Botanic Garden of Wales or Newquay Honey Farm. The countryside can be enjoyed by a trip along the Teifi Valley Railway. For those particularly interested in history, there are a range of historic sites to visit including Cilgerran Castle, Newcastle Emlyn Castle and Carew Castle.
For those who enjoy a combination of walks (some wheelchair / pram friendly) and wildlife, why not visit the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran. Those more keen walkers would find challenges throughout Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
The organic cheese makers Caws Cenarth make local cheese using organic methods and visitors to this farm can observe the cheese being made. As pictured in our description, the local area also offers a popular (free) woolen museum, which runs special themes throughout the year (such as an Easter competition for different ages of children).
