About the home

This Newcastle Emlyn Holiday Cottage that welcomes pets is set in a peaceful area within 10 acres of wonderful rolling hills and stunning green countryside in Carmarthenshire, West Wales. Convenient for the Coastal and Countryside delights of Ceredigion, Cardigan Bay, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire it provides the perfect holiday break.

With a traditional idyllic look of whitewashed stone with Welsh slate the cottage is joined to the farmhouse and is within 10 acres of land that has become a haven for wildlife, with patches of wild orchids and many species of birds including Red Kites. The cottage is wonderfully snug and cosy throughout the year. Relaxation is the key and the wood-burning stove is perfect for a cosy evening all year around. The drinking water in the cottage comes from a natural spring in the valley and it tastes superb.

Ground floor

The lounge has a beamed ceiling, thick walls and windows overlooking the courtyard to both the front and the garden to the rear. There is lovely leather furniture and a flat screen TV/DVD combo with iPod dock and freeview and Radio/CD player.

There is an electric stove and a dining table and chairs overlooking the bird feeding station which is very well used.

The lounge has original artwork by local artists and a comprehensive range of information about the local area.
Bedroom 1 has a contemporary double bed with memory foam mattress, beamed ceiling, built in wardrobe and antique chest of drawers. All the linen is beautifully laundered white cotton. Here again there is original artwork and a throw produced at a local woollen mill from Jacob fleece.

Kitchen with stable door and slate floor. The kitchen has a full size cooker, a fridge with ice box, microwave and good quality crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. Kitchen basics provided eg washing up liquid, tin foil, cling film, kitchen roll etc.

The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Carmarthenshire region

Situated on a 10 acre small farm (which you are free to roam) in the heart of the Teifi Valley, this wonderful Newcastle Emlyn Holiday Cottage adjoins the Farmhouse and is carefully positioned so it is not overlooked whilst also backing onto the farmyard. Farm here are traditional Welsh Black cattle, free range poultry, guinea fowl, peacocks and honey bees in the orchard.

The country market town of Newcastle Emlyn, just two and a half miles away boasts exclusive shops, a wide range of eating places and pubs and a twice weekly livestock market. The castle, built in 1240 to replace the 'old castle', was the centre of the town for 400 years and you can enjoy a visit to the ruins next to the River Teifi. The town enjoyes a good selection of pubs, cafés and shops. There are also banks, ATM's, a launderette and leisure centre with swimming pool.

Ty Castellnewydd is centrally placed in the old county of Dyfed which was made up of the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion with their rich cultural heritage.

The whole of West Wales is renowned for its wholesome produce and there is ample opportunity to sample a range of excellent food and drink at the local hotels and inns as well as to buy at the local shops and markets. Try Cardigan Bay crab and lobster, and a range of seafood including cockles and sewin. Lava bread (a type of seaweed) is a typically Welsh delicacy and can be found in the shops and some restaurants. Welsh lamb is always delicious and Welsh Black beef is extra special. There are very many excellent local cheeses

Beaches – With Cardigan Bay on the doorstep there are many beaches to choose form including; Tresaith 10 miles and Aberporth 10.5 miles

Water Sports - The Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Club offers white water rafting, canoes and kayaks for some spectacular scenery along the Teifi for the water sports enthusiasts. 10 milesCeredigion Water Sports Centre New Quay. 17 miles

Walking – Many local walks from the door step to suit all levels and abilities. Local walking club and guides available.Ceredigion Costal Path 12 miles

Fishing – Course trout and salmon all nearby including salmon and wild brown trout fishing on the famous River Teifi. 2 miles

Sea fishing – Cardigan Bay is renowned for its bass and black bream and boats may be chartered from several of Ceredigion’s small ports. Ceredigion Coast 12 miles

Golf – Family owned 9-hole parkland course with 18 tees Saron Golf Course, Penwern. 5 miles

Cycling - There are cycle routes for all ages and abilities including the Brechfa Forest trails 17 miles.

Pony trekking - Horse riding is available in a few locations including the Starlight Riding Centre 4 miles.
