The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

Newcastle Emlyn is conveniently located between the larger market towns of Cardigan and Lampeter and Carmarthen is only a short distance away and has a newly opened shopping development. The South West Wales coastline is a short car journey from the Hotel and has many glorious beaches, quaint villages and local wildlife, including dolphins often seen at Mwnt and Aberporth beaches.

West Wales is know for it's green countryside, rivers and coastline. Very much suited to the outdoor character but filled with attractions to take you indoors. As typical for the UK, the weather in Wales is varied and changes quickly, when the sun's out, the valleys are filled with amazing colours, and when it rains, you can hide away for a cosy coffee before visiting the abundant rivers and waterfalls.

Newcastle Emlyn

Newcastle Emlyn is conveniently located between the larger market towns of Cardigan and Lampeter. The busy town of Carmarthen is only a short distance away and has a newly opened shopping development. The South West Wales coastline is a short car journey from the Hotel and has many glorious beaches, quaint villages and local wildlife, including dolphins often seen at Mwnt and Aberporth beaches.

The town started as small dwellings centred around the castle which was built by Meredith ap Rhys Gryg in 1240 but rebuilt again later. The ruins overlook the river on 3 sides with a number of small footpaths to navigate. The town has a number of small cafe's, artisan shops, a park and market and locally, there a plenty of sites to visit such as the Cilgerran wildlife centre, Cenarth Salmon falls and Pentre Ifan standing stones.
