A short drive away will take you to the town of Castlewellan where you have access to any number of outdoor activities, golf, fishing, mountain climbing, canoeing, abseiling, sailing, mountain biking, tennis etc The Castle with lake and gardens are beautiful all year round .
Newcastle has a heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months and lots of family activities during the holiday season
There are some great hill walks, loads of lovely sandy beaches, good music and culture in the area. Try to take a two week break as a week is never enough.
All year round Warrenpoint offers well known nightclubs and restaurants providing excellent entertainment and a variety of foods to suit every taste and pocket. During the summer months an open-air amusement park is on offer in the main square or you can take a stroll down along the beach and seafront.
The forest features riverside walks and an arboretum. There is a two-mile forest drive to panoramic views over Carlingford Lough. There is also a Play Park with children's play area and tennis courts, an Information area and a cafe. New bike trails, plenty of fishing, swimming, scavenging, messing in streams and waterfalls, walking, getting really muddy. Lots of extreme sports too - rock-climbing and kayaking - for those who've a mind to.Two minutes walk away, streams, rivers, immense cliffs, heathered hillsides.
