The Powys region
Mid Wales is best known for the beautiful Elan Valley offering stunning scenery, wonderful walking and some of the best mountain biking routes in the British Isles. The area is also famed for its rare and beautiful wildlife – most notably the magnificent Red Kites most easily seen at Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre.
Throughout the year there are events and activities on offer – walking, running, biking, fishing, motor cross, horse riding, wildlife and bird watching, photography, arts and crafts, music, dance and drama, shows, festivals and carnival.
The River Wye is only a short stroll from the garden of each property where you may be lucky to see a kingfisher or otters at play.
The village has 2 pubs and a shop stocking most items, all are within easy walking distance of Vicarage Holiday Homes

"Perfect venue, perfect hosts"
Excellent accommodation for us both and our two dogs. We had scones, bread etc left for us when we arrived and also two dog biscuits - lovely touch! Relaxing place to stay with lovely garden too. Walks are only a short drive away and the house has all the comforts of home. The bedrooms are comfortable and well decorated and maintained as are the en suites. The kitchen has everything you need and the lounge is relaxing. Would highly recommend staying and we will be staying there again in the future.
So glad you all had a lovely time and we would love to welcome you back again in the future

"Tranquil and Cosy in a beautiful setting with immaculate interior"
Stayed for 3 nights with my family (including 3 children under 5 years) perfect garden, very secure and safe for pets and children. Lovely well kept interior and exterior. Excellent value for money including the lovely touches around the house to make the stay more relaxing. Graham and Diane have made this a home from home and we would have loved to have stayed for a week. Definitely need a car if venturing out for the day but the surrounding countryside is lovely too for nice relaxing walks. I love the fact it is pet friendly and has a secure garden. The cottage was very well stocked with a lot of thought gone into making this a very pleasant experience. No mobile phone signal however but that's not a bad thing in this day and age for a few days! Overall a very pleasant stay and the children also loved it .
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to write such a lovely review for us, we really appreciate it. It was so nice to meet you and your family and we would love to see you all again. Wish you had mentioned the lack of mobile signal as it does depend on whereabouts in the garden and surrounding area that you try. It also depends on your service provider, we are on vodaphone and it works ok for us.

"Lovely Cottage, immaculately clean, and our fourth visit to date."
A very warm welcome from Diane and Graham again on our 4th visit. Immaculately clean as usual. Lovely welcome pack with homemade cake as well! just right after a long drive. Internet great for teenagers wanting to keep in touch with friends. Beautiful area of Wales, if you like wildlife this is the place to be. Fishing less than 5 minutes walk to the River Wye, great for walking the dog too. I know this area very well and the Cottage is a great base to explore further afield. Once again many thanks to you both, we enjoyed every minute.
It was lovely to see you all again and meet the new dog! Looking forward to your 5th visit!

"A Cosy comfortable & very welcoming Cottage. Could not fault it."
We had a beautiful welcome pack (Wine, Strawberries & Cream, Jam, Homemade Scones and Bread) The Cottage had everything you need and to a high standard also is very Dog friendly. We enjoyed some lovely walks along the nearby river Wye. This is a beautiful part of Wales with lots of Interesting towns / villages we especially enjoyed Hay on Wye. We had a good relaxing and quiet holiday.
Thank you for the lovely review. The walk along the River is very pretty and ideal for dogs, glad you liked it!

"Fabulous, five star family holiday home well located to explore Wales."
Beautifully appointed, immaculate home filled with all the little touches that you need in order to make a holiday just perfect. Fabulous welcome pack on arrival (Welsh cream tea with raspberries and strawberries, home baked bread , wine and flowers!). Spacious living area, modern kitchen, large comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms. Lovely, private decked garden which has wonderful views of the Wye Valley and enjoys full sun in the afternoon. Wifi available but is a little slow. Ideal spot for touring Wales; enjoying historic sites (castles, monuments and gardens, walking, cycling, bird watching).
Sorry the WiFi is a little slow. We have been promised superfast broadband by the end of 2014 by the Welsh Assembly so watch this space!

This was our second visit, same cat different dog! The house was immaculately clean. The welcome meal was so welcome after such a long journey. The weather was also fantastic as was our welcome from graham and Diane. We slept very well but please would someone tell the sparrows I don't need to wake at 4a.m. It is so good that hand wash, shower gels etc are provided as it is so easy to forget little things when travelling. I can't praise the house enough and would recommend it absolutely, also Graham and Diane for all they do to make one's stay as comfortable as possible. For dogs the walks from the house are safe and the garden properly fenced so neither cat nor dog could get out on their own, essential in a strange environment for them.
