Northumberland is a county full of contrasts with an exceptional history. Hadrian's Wall is a world Heritage site and there are castles a plenty - Walkworth, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh to name only three within striking distance. We have a fantastic coastline much of it designated as an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and gardens of international reputation -Alnwick Garden is only a short drive away. If it's culture or shopping or food that interest you the Metro Centre and the theaters, galleries and restaurants of Newcastle/Gateshead are only 30 minutes away.

Newbiggin-by-the-Sea

For a village of only 6,000 Newbiggin has much to offer the visitor. We have a wonderful bay, a sandy beach, interesting rock pools and the first permanent offshore sculpture in the UK. Northumberland's newest visitor attraction the Newbiggin Maritime Centre opened it's doors here in 2011 and boasts 3 exhibition halls, a cafe with stunning views and a shop selling local crafts. KEAP Creative, a group of artists have created an Art trail which is added to every year and now includes over 50 pieces (one of which is on the back wall of the cottage).
