Named by New York Magazine as one of the Top Ten Suburbs in the New York Metro Area, Maplewood, New Jersey has a small-town feel, and yet is only a very short commute (about 30min.) by direct train to Penn Station in New York City.

The Village has a collection of quaint shops and both upscale and family-friendly restaurants with a good selection of cuisine (American, Sushi, Indian, Italian, and French just to name a few); it also is has a Train Station, Cinema, Grocery, Irish Pub, and lots of beautifully landscaped parks with Children's Playgrounds, Tennis Courts, Basket Ball Courts, Bike Paths, and a Duck Pond for the little ones.
Mondays, July through October, shop at the Farmer's Market (only a 2 min. walk from the house) for locally grown fruits and vegetables.
July 4th Activities include a petting zoo, old-fashioned tent Circus, ice-cream eating contest, live music, parade, and and evening fireworks display..
In October, celebrate an All-American Halloween Night with elaborately decorated neighborhood houses, local costume contests, a Village Parade, and traditional door-to-door Trick-or-Treating.
In Winter, the town transforms the grassy soccer pitch into an outdoor ice-skating rink and the surrounding hills fill with sleds and sleighs. On weekends in December, The Village hosts visits from Santa and there are Horse-Drawn Sleigh-Rides, and a recreation of a little "Dickens Village".
Maplewood's quintessential, All-American, small-town, charm has made it the filming location for numerous movies, television, and commercials, including: "Stepmom, "The Polar Express", "Garden State", "One True Thing", "Gracie", and the TV Show "House".

Newark Airport - Maplewood is only 15min. by Taxi or Car Hire from Newark International Airport. JFK Airport - Maplewood is one hour by Taxi or Car Hire (or take the AirLink Train service to Long Island Railroad into NY Penn Station and transfer to the NJ Transit Train to Maplewood) New York City - take the "Mid-Town Direct Train" to Maplewood from New York Penn Station (about 30 min.). (also connections from/to PATH subway trains or downtown ferry @ Hoboken)

Main Level - sitting room, den/office, large kitchen, dining room, and full bathroom. Upstairs - two king bedrooms, one double bedroom, and a full bath. Upper Level- triple bedroom (three single beds) Basement - laundry area with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
We are happy to provide a cot and high-chair on request.
Bring your laptop - Free Internet access point in the den/office.
Further details outdoors: The back garden and deck are equally well suited for outdoor entertaining or for childrens play. Plenty of parking is avaiable in the two-car garage and private driveway.
Conditions
REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT - Secure Booking/Damage Deposit required at the time of booking; it will be refunded after your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
PAYMENT - We accept payments with a Credit Card via PayPal, Bank Transfer, or personal check in US Dollars. An advance payment equal to 1/2 of the rental rate is required 60 days before arrival. The balance is due 14 days before your arrival date.

Had an absolutely brilliant stay at this spacious and comfortable home! Every convenience was available both inside and outside the home - it really lived up to everything on our wishlist for a really great first holiday in the States. The house is very near to shops (including a Cafe bar located on Prospect Street - left at traffic lights that served breakfast when we didn't feel up to making it!) - there were also restaurants, hairdressers etc, all within a 5 minute walk and with a walk of approx 15 mins the village of Maplewood with local train station direct to NYC and a village pub that serves the best Guinness outside of Ireland! The holiday was undoubtedly made easy from the start as the owner has put together a really useful Maplewood Guide book with plenty of useful information that really helped us plan routes etc. The trip to/from Newark airport was really easy - just as easy to travel by taxi to/from airport and then use local trains into NYC (Penn Station takes you right to a very central place next to Madison Square Gardens and on the next corner the Empire State building is in sight). Will definitely recommend this holiday home and plan to return again hopefully in the near future! -Della and Family (UK )
What a fantastic house,when you book on the internet you can never be sure what the property will be like,a great big lens can make even the smallest bedroom look cavernous, but this house was just as described, huge!! Our family stayed here on June 24th through June 28th. This house was an absolute doll house! We had 8 eight people and had plenty of room for everyone. Owner Nicole was great to talk with and helped us far more than what she had too (we left some things and she sent them to us). Not knowing what to expect I was hoping the house I booked would be at least ok. When we got to the house I knew I did good. But when we went inside the the house it felt good when my family kept saying "Mike you did good on this one" The house was great but what made the house wonderful was the little touches Nicole had made. Like the basket of goodies with a little note welcoming our stay. a folder she had for us with neighborhood restaurants (with menus), pharmacies, local stores, emergency numbers, a train schedule, etc. She even left craft paper and crayons for the kids. The house was great, the neighborhood was very pleasant and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again. Do not know if you (Nicole) have been doing this long but you do know what you are doing.
