The Central Southern England / Hampshire region
The New Forest has recently been designated a National Park and an area of outstanding natural beauty and it more than lives up to this accolade. The area enjoys a micro-climate courtesy of the Isle of Wight and the shelter it offers to this part of the coast. The Forest itself is made of up a huge area of heathland and forestation some very ancient. The area is totally stunning at all times of year. The sea wall at Lymington, the marina and the high street there are well worth a visit, the village of Burley is ever popular, Brockenhurst and its pretty high street worth a visit, Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard and of course the bright lights of Bournemouth - all on the doorstep. We have a wealth of blue flag beaches a short distance away,Southbourne, Bournemouth, Friars Cliff, Avon Beach, Highcliffe to name but a few. Family days out are in abundance with Moors Valley Country Park, Paultons Park, Romsey Rapids, Alice in Wonderland at Hurn, crabbing on the quay at Mudeford, the Tank Museum and not forgetting the ever popular Otter and Owl centre. Climate is unusually mild and the scenery whether it be coastal or forest is spectacular.
The New Forest / Bransgore area
Bransgore is a thriving village with local school, churches, pubs and excellent parade of village shops. We have a large, well-stocked Co-op open 7am-11pm (most unusual in rural location), fantastic butcher, hairdresser, beauty salon, fish and chip shop, newsagents and cafe. We have no street lights - by choice! Atmosphere is safe, friendly and hospitable. There is a small car-park in the village and The Crown pub is on the crossroads just past the parade of shops. We also have a large recreation ground - wooded in places, follow the stream to the local hamlet of Neacroft. In addition there is a cricket ground with the second of the village pubs nearby - The Carpenters. The Egon Ronay listed Three Tuns is a beautiful 16th century thatched pub located at the foot of Poplar Lane. Beautiful gardens, trellised courtyard and regular events in 'The Barn'. The village is situated between the towns of Christchurch and Ringwood with Brockenhurst and Lymington a short drive away. We also have several excellent PYO farms and local farm shops. Forest ponies roam freely just up the road at Thorney Hill and Holmsley - it is a beautiful location yet has all the necessities of life on the doorstep. Local places of interest include - historic Christchurch with its ancient Priory and Quay, Riverside cafes, parks and quaint high street. Lymington with its marinas, birdlife and bustling high street, Bournemouth with its huge range of seasonal events including the Air Festival, Candelit Lower Gardens evenings, live concerts at Meyrick Park, firework displays etc, Isle of Wight with its annual festivals, Camp Bestival on the doorstep at Lulworth and not forgetting the New Forest Show an annual event held at Brockenhurst in mid-July. The Jurassic Coast and the Isle of Purbeck are just half an hour away by car, Corfe Castle and Corfe Village and why not take a ferry over to Brownsea Island or Hurst Castle for a truly unforgettable day out.
