The Central Southern England region

Southern England enjoys one of the most temperate climates in the country. With lower than average rainfall and location sheltered from the Atlantic, the area can enjoy an advantageous climate.

Hampshire is one of Britain's most unspoiled counties. Historically, it was one of the first parts of Britain to fall to the Romans and after the Norman invasion, the New Forest was created. Originally an aristocratic hunting ground, it is now an area of outstanding natural beauty. The county is split into 3 areas: the New Forest, the rural north which includes Winchester, once the capital of England, and the south including the modern metropolis of Southampton. It's natural harbour has an unusual dual tide that makes it suitable for large ships and luxury liners. It's here that the Titanic set sail in 1912 . The area is also home to the historical naval city of Portsmouth.

New Forest

The ancient woodland and heathlands of the New Forest is enjoyed by riders and walkers alike. Known as the land of oak and beech, locals still have ancient rights and privileges. These include pannage for the pigs to farm acorns in the autumn and it's why you will see ponies and cattle roaming freely in the countryside.

Lymington is on the southern edge of the New Forest and at the western end of the Solent. It is a world renowned sailing resort containing 2 large marinas: Berthon and Haven. The famous Saturday market has it's origins back to the 13th century. Lymington came first in a study of the country's finest seaside towns 2008, (reported by Richard Savill, The Telegraph 5th June 2008) Within easy reach of Lymington are a wealth of interests and attractions including enchanting castles and great houses. Just a 20minute drive will take you to Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst or Beaulieu, Bucklers Hard and the nature reserve at Hurst Spit. Lymington Quay operates ferries to the Isle of Wight and Hayling Island; home to windsurfers and yachtsmen alike.

Local attractions include the Isle of Wight Music Festival, the New Forest Show, Beaulieu Motor Musuem and much much more.

"Nice house, nice town"

Everything as advertised. Plenty of things to do around Lymington. Only problem was the weather and then the fact that dogs used to live in the house and i am allergic to dogs.

"Comfortable accommodation, good location."

A very well equipped and comfortable house which was in an excellent location at the top of the town. Easy parking for two cars, handy for a main supermarket and a short stroll to the High Street. The master bedroom with en-suite was excellent, the two other bedrooms were quite small but had comfortable beds. The local agents at the time were not very accommodating with regard to keys and initial access, although we understand agents have been changed subsequently. Very good and prompt communication from the owner.

many thanks for taking the time to provide a review of your stay. I can confirm the house manager has now been changed so access to keys is no longer an issue. Kind regards
