The Central Southern England region
The fabulous New Forest National Park is a great holiday location, consistently voted as one of the UK's top holiday destinations. Our cottage is in the heart of the national park in a quaint village just 3 miles south of Brockenhurst. Yet, we are also only 3 miles from the coast at Lymington, with its cobbled quay, and pretty marina, offering magnificent views towards the Isle of Wight.
This unique area of outstanding natural beauty has endless forest walks and cycle paths together with open countryside freely inhabited by donkeys, cattle and ponies. As a national park, the whole area is open for visitors to enjoy. The quaint villages of Lymington, Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu and Burley are all worth a visit.
Clear rivers and shady groves provide tranquillity and a car-free haven for walking, cycling and horse riding. There are plenty of companies offering bike hire. Or if you are feeling more energetic, The New Forest offers canoeing and kayaking opportunities on the gentle Beaulieu River. There are outstanding gardens within easy reach - Exbury, Furzey, Braxton, Broadlands and Beaulieu Abbey. Children activities near by include Moors Valley Country Park, Paultons Park, Longdown Activity Centre, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Go Ape to name a few.
Other places of interest include Mudeford Quay, the 18th Century village of Buckler's Hard, the award winning beaches at Bournemouth or take a day trip from Lymington to the Isle of Wight. You'll soon understand why people are drawn back to this area year after year.
The famous New Forest ponies wander freely on the open forest just 200 metres away, where we often see deer.
Five minutes of level walking will take you to the heart of Sway village, where a small range of village stores can supply your needs, from vegetables, fresh baked breads, local meat and game to good wines and cheeses. Sway and Brockenhurst boast a delightful variety of pubs and restaurants (you could eat in a different one every night of the week) to suit any pocket, style and appetite, so have fun in exploring their interesting menus. There is an excellent choice of bicycle hire, sightseeing buses and riding stables within a couple of miles, also an excellent golf course at Brockenhurst, just 3 miles up the road. If sailing takes your fancy, you'll enjoy the wonderful marina at Lyminton, about 3 miles away.

"A great home from home"
A great place to stay for a couple or family with older children, very quiet, comfortable and on the outskirts of Sway village, but easy walking to shops, cafe etc.
Very clean, beautifully furnished and equipped. Could have done with some toiletries and a few tissues etc to get us going, but otherwise everything was there.
The stairs might be a bit steep for older guests or those with knee problems but the bedrooms are well furnished & the bed very comfortable. The whole property is very clean and there is great attention to cleanliness and detail. We will return.

"The most peaceful well equipped holiday cottage in the New Forest"
The cottage was located in a beautiful tranquil part of the New Forest. The garden has an abundance of beautiful tall trees. We watched squirrels running through them. There was a patio area to sit out and watch the garden and listen to the bird song.
Inside the cottage is a delight. Comfortable sofas, large flat-screen tv. My son bought his favouite dvds to watch in the evening whilst I cooked our evening meal in the well equipped kitchen. There is luxury shower and the bedrooms are very comfortable.
We visited the Motor Museum in Beaulieu, the New Forest Park which has a wolf park, deer, owls, otters plus many more animals. We love visiting the stream that runs through the Forest in Brockenhurst, followed by a cream tea in the Teddy Bear Cafe. A favouite for us is a cruise around Lymington Harbour to the Isle of Wight. Lyndhurst also has some lovely restaurants.

"Great cottage,Great area,Great host"
The Ducklings is in a quiet gated homely area, the owner lives next door is very friendly but not intrusive. Ducklings Cottage,Sway, is very modern and perfect with a good enclosed garden .Situated a 100 yards outside New Forest cattle grids, and 1/4 mile from the forest and in a really great village. Great food at Sway Manor, not expensive and Hare & Hounds pub and with loads more within 3 miles without having to go into Towns ,where traffic is a night mare, outside roads fine.Dont miss IOW day trip from Lymington also a great town.Altogether as you guess a good holiday base.
