The Central Southern England / Hampshire region

As well as the New Forest within Hampshire you will find the cities of Southampton (26 miles) and Winchester (33 miles), the latter was the ancient capital of the Kingdom of England.
In Wilshire to the north, is the Cathedral City of Salisbury (13 miles) and the ancient monument of Stonehenge (23 miles)
In Dorset to the south, visit the harbour town of Christchurch (14 miles). You can take a trip across the harbour to Hengistbury Head, great for walks, with magnificent views across Christchuch and Poole Bays. Bournemouth coastal resort (15.5 miles) provides a whole host of attractions for young and old with golden sands for sunbathing and from Poole Quay (20 miles) you can visit the beautiful Brownsea Island. Take the ferry from Sandbanks to Studland where you can explore the Isle of Purbeck and take in Swanage, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
The New Forest / North Gorley area
The Village of North Gorley is in the Parish of Hyde and lies within the New Forest Boundary. It is just over 2 miles to the town of Fordingbridge to the North and the historic market town of Ringwood lies under 5 miles to the South.
The village is home to The Royal Oak public house, which was once used as a hunting lodge as well as the Little Mere Restaurant and Gorley Tea rooms which are well worth a visit. The award winning restaurant The Three Lions in Stuckton is also minutes away.
There are a couple of horse riding schools, as well as places to hire bikes to explore the Forest located nearby.
There is plenty to explore locally - on Gorley Common at the top of Buddle Hill it is not uncommon to see deer grazing. Within a mile is the New Forest Water Park and 4 miles away is the Ringwood Town and Country Experience, a museum which is home to vintage cars and motorcycles, as well as exhibitions and a full size railway station. See what life was like in Roman Briton by visiting Rockbourne Roman Villa in the village of Rockbourne which is 5½ miles away.
A little further afield, but within the New Forest are the towns of Burley (10 miles) and the "Capital" of the Forest since the time of William the Conqueror, Lyndhurst (14 miles). Beaulieu, with it's famous Motor Museum, Palace House and Historic Abbey, is just over 20 miles away and 2½ miles to the south of Beaulieu is Buckler's Hard, a Maritime Museum on the banks of the Beaulieu river which was the birthplace to many of Admiral Nelson's Naval fleet.
