Home description

Seaside flat with panoramic sea views, an hour from Rome. Three minute walk to the beach, and a short walk to Nettuno town and port. Ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts.The apartment has excellent sea views and a balcony for alfresco dining. All amenities (pizzeria, grocer, bakery etc) are within a 2 minute walk.

Nettuno port and centre, with its various cafes, restaurants, bars and shops are within a 10 minute walk. The train station is a 10 minute walk (the journey to Rome is approximately one hour). The seaside resort of Anzio is a 10 minute drive, or 8 minutes on the train. This is an ideal location for those wishing to combine a coastal break with trips to Rome.

The Lazio region

Lazio has a wealth of attractions including Rome, Ostia Antica (well-preserved Roman Port), and coastal towns such as Nettuno and Anzio. Other attractions include the Pope's Palace and Frascati wine area at Castelli Romani, the fountains at Villa D'Este at Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa, the exclusive Island of Ponza with its natural marine park, the British Cemetry and Second World War Museum at Anzio, and the American Cemetry in Nettuno. Naples and Pompeii are accessible by car and train.

The Rome area has a great year-round temperate climate. Even in the "off-season" of March and April, average temperatures are between 17-20 degrees, and 23 degrees in October falling to around 17 degrees in November.

Nettuno area

Nettuno is a popular seaside resort near Rome. It is great for combining a beach holiday with the attractions of Rome. Apart from the beach, it has a port (with cafes and restaurants), and a town centre with more cafes and restaurants.

There is a separate well-preserved old quarter (Burgo Medievale) with craft shops, restaurants, bars. It has an old Fort (Forte Sangallo) built in 1503.

Nettuno is extremely family friendly, but also offers various sporting activities including sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, 5 a side football and golf.

How to get there

Nettuno is one of the closest coastal resorts to Rome. It is near Fiumicino airport - (60km) and 55 minute drive - and also close to Ciampino airport (50 km).

Ryanair and EasyJet fly to Ciampino; British Airways and Alitalia fly to Fiumicino.

Nettuno is around 1 hour from Rome's Termini station (€3 each way), and the flat is a 10 minute walk from Nettuno station

Trains run from Fiumicino airport to Rome Termini train station (around 35 minutes). There is a bus service from Ciampino to Rome Termini (c 50 minutes). Nettuno is around 55km south of Rome

The apartment has two double bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with two single beds). It has 2 bathrooms, a large living room (including a table that seats 6), and a balcony (with table that could accommodate up to 6). The extra-long lounge sofa could sleep a 5th person, (alternatively there is an inflatable bed).

It is fully equipped with modern conveniences (washing machine, dishwasher, DVD, CD, TV, 2 cots).

Our trip to Nettuno was great. Nettuno was completely unknown to us when we rented the apartment, but we found it to be the perfect spot. It's location near and access to Rome is ideal. We quickly fell into a regular rhythm of going to the beach, then wandering into old town and drinking cappucino while watching yachts come into and out of the marina....perfect. Great vacation.
