Home description
Our apartment has several features that distinguish it from the rest:
It's right on Lake Como, with 2 enclosed gardens; one shared, on the lake shore and the other private, right outside your front door. It also has a large and spacious open plan living area (60 m2) and as this was once a full time home, the kitchen is very well equipped.
The apartment is 120m2 and recently renovated, with free WiFi, but in an 18th century building, and is ideal for relaxing with absolutely stunning views.
It sleeps up to 6 people in one double and one twin bedroom and a sofa-bed in the living room, so is suitable for families, couples and groups. It's the sort of place where you can relax and let time drift by, or be out and about doing things.
There is also plenty to see in the area during your stay and the lake ferries, which stop only 300 meters away, are a very relaxing way to enjoy days out on Lake Como.

The only proviso for renting this lovely accommodation is that it's in the old part of the village, and isn't accessible by car. You'll need to leave your car in the safe parking areas in the village and walk downhill (about 250 metres) through the quaint, narrow streets (bottom image) to get to the apartment. We won't recommend you stay here if you have mobility issues, or would struggle with a lot of steps. However, being tucked away down by the lake is the ultimate holiday getaway and as one guest said it's a small price to pay for such an idyllic setting ...

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
The Lake Como area is one of the most beautiful in Europe and is close to the Swiss border. Milan is only an hour away by train or car, if you fancy city site seeing and some classy shops or of course a spot of football at the San Siro.
But there is plenty to do and see if you just explore around the lake. It is lovely at all times of the year, but very warm in summer, which makes swimming in the lake a delight.
Nesso area
Nesso has several cafes and a lovely restaurant, the Tres Rosa. The waterfall is spectacular and in August there is a big fireworks display for the Festival of San Lorenzo, which is the village's saint. Breakfast in La Cascata is a good way to start the day. There are several places to buy provisions; the nearest is 250m from the apartment just under La Cascata.
The ferry is a great way to explore the lake's towns and beauty spots, including Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello (used as a location in Casino Royale and Star Wars:Attack of the Clones) and also Villa Olmo (where there is usually a touring art exhibition). Como itself is busy town with many restaurants, bars and decent shopping. You can visit the cathedral which was built between 1396 and 1740 or take the funicular railway up to Brunate for a great view across the town and lake. You can walk back to Nesso from there along 15km of marked trails.
15 km from Nesso in the other direction is the popular town of Bellagio which sits at the intersecion of the 3 branches of the lake. There are quaint winding streets with cafes and art, silk and leather shops and also Villa Melzi with it's beautiful gardens.
You can also hire your own boat to explore (they will deliver it to you) play tennis and golf, go horse riding, water skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, mountain biking.....the list is endless. Hiking and cycling are very popular in the area (the Madonna del Ghisallo church, the patron saint of cyclists and and adjoining cycling museum are also nearby) The Aero Club Como is the only water flying school in Europe and the Como Festival takes place in July http://www.comofestival.org/eng.

There's plenty of wildlife and from the apartment we've seen Cormorants, Herons, House Martins and Black Kites (Black Kite is Nibbio Bruno, in Italian)
How to get there
Fly to Milan Malpensa (85km from Nesso) Milan Linate (80km) or (Milan) Bergamo, Orio al Serio(70km). Easyjet fly from the UK to Malpensa and Ryanair fly to Bergamo.
You can fly to Milan from these British airports.

You can hire a car from the airports and drive (if you fly into Malpensa, then Europcar or Avis is better as they have desks in Terminal 2, where the Easyjet flights operate).
There are trains and buses from the airports to Como town, and you can get the bus or ferry from Como to Nesso.

Further details indoors: The apartment has a large corner living room with views up and down the lake. There's a sofa bed which opens out to provide a 1.40 m wide bed and also a standard 3 seater sofa. The dining table seats 8 and you have use of free wifi, a TV and DVD player (we've provided DVDs, some of which feature Lake Como) and a CD player. There are also books for you to read during your stay and a log burning stove for extra heat and a romantic atmosphere through the winter.
The living room leads into the kitchen with a gas hob, sink and dishwasher - and a butcher's block / breakfast bar with 2 stools. The electric oven, large fridge freezer, and washing machine are in the adjoining ‘scullery’ which is fitted in the same modern style with plenty of cupboards for your groceries.
This used to be a full-time home, so the kitchen is much better equipped than an average holiday rental.
The modern bathroom has a shower, large bath, basin and bidet. Towels are included in the rental price.
The master bedroom is furnished in a traditional style with a King sized double bed, drawers and a wardrobe. The second bedroom is more modern with 2 single beds and more storage space. Both bedrooms have high wooden ceilings and views across the hillside village of Nesso.
Further details outdoors: The apartment building is right on the edge of the lake with amazing views. There's a secure and enclosed private garden with direct access from the apartment, which has a BBQ, garden furniture and lighting.
The shared garden runs along the lake edge and enclosed and secure (it's unusual to have a garden so close to the water) We always swim in the lake, although some of the locals doubt the cleanliness of the water, but we've been doing it for years with no ill effects.
While there are 6 other apartments in the building, this one has it's own private entrance at the back.
The ferry stop is a 10 minute walk along the lake so that you can explore the lake by boat. You can also hire your own boat for a day which can be delivered to the steps by the apartment.

In July and August the minimum rental is 7 days and the changeover day is Sunday. During the rest of the year, the minimum is 3 days and the changeover day is more flexible.

This is a great place for children, but they will need supervision and as the road is a 10 minute walk uphill, you might not be comfortable bringing a baby here.
Not suitable for those with mobility issues or unable to manage a lot of steps.
Cleaning is charged at €50 per week and a refundable deposit is required of €150, which will be returned to you within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday.
25% of the full cost is required on booking, with the full balance due 28 days before the holiday commences.

"We had a perfect time in our beautiful appartement. The views are breathtaking and the place is extremely peaceful. Suzi and the neighbours are wonderful. We (total amateurs with a new fishing rod) tried to fish (you can right in front of the house) and got very kind advice from all neighbours. They even gave us bait and special hooks for the local fish. Ultimately they kindly donated 5 delicious and freshly caught and barbecued fish to prove that it is possible to fish successfully right in front of the house.
