Home description

Villa Rosina, owned by the Pertusini family for centuries, is a perfect peaceful lakeside retreat facing Lake Como. Fling open the shutters and wlak onto the patio and you have a postcard view. The villa has a lakeside garden and small dock by the shore where you can jump into the water and it's a short walk to town. Nesso is within walking distance and has been a lakeside village from Roman times.

The villa was remodelled just a few years ago and it was divided into three apartments. Each of them has been furnished with beautifully and classicall pieces, including chandeliers from Capodimonte, granite counter tops and cherry wood. The beds are very comfortable with olive wood frames. The bathrooms with showers are fully tiled. Out on the terrace there is patio furniture for up to 20 people.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area

Como is know for the best silk in the world. Wonderful silk museum, open market once a week. Take the funicular to a hilltop overlooking the city for the best view of Como & Lake Como. Il Duomo (church) is a must. Shopping is in this area. Attractions you can't miss include Villa Carlotta, Villa Serbelloni. Villa Melsi and Isola Comacina.

We recommend the Divina Commedia and San Remo bars and Il Lido disco. There is also water skiing, horseback riding and many more activities. Bellagio is about 20 minute from the house, you will have the best restaurants, shops and what ever you like. This is were you take the ferry boat to Varenna. If you like, you have the aliscafo, a fast ferry that tours the lake.

Restaurants:
Mention Pertusini's from Nesso or Bellagio from a restaurant in Santa Fe, Osteria D'Assisi in New Mexico, America. Sylvio's in Bellagio (great setting and great food). They do their own fishing. The Lavorello (a local fish) was great. In Nesso, Restaurant Tre Rosas (five minute walk from the house) great outdoor patios, best pizza, wood burning oven (say hello to La Signora, from us). In Como- Ristorante Perlasca, In Cernobbio, Villa d'Este has a wonderful Sunday brunch.

Nesso area

Nesso, 16 km midway between Como and Bellagio, is on the Como "leg" of the lake. It is an old centre with picturesque groups of houses spread along the hilly slopes and along the shore of the lake. In Nesso you have a few restaurants, grocery, pharmacy, post office and about anything else you need for a relaxing time. Conveniently located for trips to Bellagio, Milan, Lago Maggiore, Lago d'Garda and Lugano, Switzerland is 55 km away.

San Pietro e Paulo's church bells toll on the half hour from the steeple seen from the balcony. The Roman Catholic Church, one of three in town, was built in 1095. A ferry stop is found up an ancient path and the little fisherman's harbor of Nesso just a few minutes further.

The town is dotted with waterfalls. In the centre of town the Tuf and Nose streams, which descend from the Pian del Tivano, join to form a waterfall that plunges spectacularly into a gorge which can be seen from the road or from the lake, by passing under an old Roman bridge.

Near Piazza Castello, by the waterfall on the main road, there are the ruins of an ancient castle. The ruins set themselves up with Romanesque showiness. The nineteenth century medieval fortification is highlighted by three little towers that are grafted on the ancient massive wall. It dominated the houses of the ancient village, where the inhabitants found safe shelter and defense in the moments of danger.

Mountains to hike, with surprises around each turn. The Pian di Nesso (Plain of Nesso) is at a height of about 900m. It is a scenic mountain locality and is on the way to Monte Palazone and Monte San Primo.

How to get there

- Fly to Malpensa. Villetta Rosina is about 50 km or one hour's drive away
- Cars are available from www.butgetrentacar.com
- Local buses or train run regularly from the airport to Como, you then need to change and catch another bus to the house.
- Taxis are also available from Malpensa

The property has a private beach, and swimming, fishing and many other activities are available in the area.
The property is located on the beach and in order to get to the villetta you have to walk a path with many stairs down to it. It is worth the walk once you get a postcard view to the entire lake

Reservations are from Saturday to Saturday.
Check-in time is at 4:00 to 8:00, depature is by 9:00.
Deposit upon arrival of 300.00 Euro
Final cleaning is in 120.00 Euro
