The Stables was once a barn, built in sandstone, which has been lovingly restored to offer accommodation for up to 4 people; perfect for couples looking to spend some quality time together, or a small family. Exposed beams and trusses have helped the property retain much of its original charm, whilst the decoration has been undertaken to a very high standard. The living accommodation is arranged in an open-plan style and backs onto a private garden, perfect for enjoying a spot of outdoor-dining during the summer months. There is parking for up to 2 cars, although the pub, petrol station and a local restaurant are only 1 mile away.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Shropshire region
A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
The Nescliffe / Hopton area
This park is a steep slope made from sandstone, with various footpaths through the woods. To the north of the hill the ramparts of an old hill fort are present. An old sandstone quarry face forms a spectacular cliff, popular for rock climbing. Cut into the cliff face is a cave, reputedly the hideaway of the highwayman Humphrey Kynaston and his horse. In August, the hills literally ring with the sound of music, a the Shrewsbury Folk Festival gets underway, attracting famous names from across the country, whilst in September, there is a three-day feast of great entertainment on the streets of Shrewsbury, in the form of the Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival. Other local attractions include Acton Burnell Castle, Cronkhill Villa and Haughmond Abbey.

Guestbook for 1744 - The Stables
The Stables is a lovely property in a great central spot, perfect place to stay for visiting the areas around. Also, excellent for those like us with a dog, as there were some lovely walks locally. Big plus factor was that it was very quiet. We live in the middle of the Cornish countryside and prefer to be away from the noise and bustle of busy towns.

,Excellent location and well equipped cottage. The sitting room is very bright, airy and spacious. It was a 'home from home' and so well equipped. Fantastic to have SKY TV channels. Brilliant walks. Easy to get to Oswestry or Shrewsbury and surrounding areas. Peaceful.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee per week or short break.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental.
Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.
"Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
