Andalusia ( Spain)
The Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol is one of the most tourist destinations that can be recognized in the entire world. Natural beauty and quantity of infrastructures, they dress the totality of the coast of Malaga.
The climate is other of the aggregate values that encourage the tourism. Agreeable temperatures, which give three hundred twenty-five days of the sun a year and warm marine waters.
In From Nerja to Sotogrande there spreads this region (in the way Torrox, Algarrobo, Vélez-Malaga, Rincón de la Victoria, Marbella and more), which coast is protected by the big saws that there appear.
The Reddish Saw, the Saw of the Snow, the White Saw and the Mounts of Malaga, trekking activities present themselves as important points of tourist attraction, especially for the interested parties in developing rural tourism, or, simply, to be captivated by the life of the people and the popular architecture of the communities of Andalusia. The visit to the Costa del Sol, also will be able to trace the traces of his ancient culture, influenced, predominantly, for the Phoenicians, the Greeks and the carthaginians. Nevertheless, there are no too many traces that cover the heredity of the above mentioned empire, but, rather, it was the culture Andalusí – born of the Islamic domination the one that more has invited his daily aspects, his gastronomy and an obvious sensibility towards the music and the literature.
As for the kitchen, it is necessary to say, that the products of the sea monopolize the biggest of the areas and that there exists a finished fan that it includes, from restaurants made famous up to popular refreshment stalls, in which blunting the vice.
The Costa del Sol has everything what any tourist wishes beaches, sea, the sun, mountains, good gastronomy, cultural sensibility and big diversion ambiences.
MALAGA: "Sol del Mediterráneo"
Founded long ago by the Phoenicians, he gets up to the shore of the moderate and blue waters of the Mediterranean. Washed by the intense and warm Andalusian sun is a city with a special grace and delight.
His reputation at tourist level comes to him especially for his beaches placed on the beach of the Sun. Not in vain this coast boasts of having one of the most warm and soft climates of the Iberian Peninsula, with such a number of hours of the sun during the whole year, which will be astonishing that his visit coincides with cloudy days.
A trip for the whole province will make us discover extraordinary and picturesque villages, some with the most ancient archaeological remains. To prove his tasty gastronomy and his delightful raisins wine is another pleasure to which the traveler must not refuse, since in Malaga, hometown of Picasso, everything is enjoyed.
Visit in the city: The Citadel and his surroundings, Roman Theater, Castle of Gibralfar, The Cathedral, Museum Picasso, the native house of Pablo Picasso, Museum of Fine arts, port etc.
The Nerja / Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo area
The Natural Place Cliffs of Maro - Fat Hill spreads along 12 km from Nerja (province of Malaga) up to The Horseshoe (province of Granada). In turn 1 mile penetrates to the interior of the Sea of Alborán. On the whole it has a surface of 1814 hectares,, . and it was catalogued like Nature reserve in 1.981 due to his wealth of flora and both terrestrial and marine fauna. It is characterized by his steep cliffs that end sometimes in beautiful coves of difficult access or straight in the sea provoking caves,in wich they inhabitat numerous vegetable species and marine faune.
Nerja is placed in the skirt of the Sierra Tejera. It will weave on steep high places on the sea to approximately 50 km to the east of Malaga. It is a very nice corner of the traditional Spain and relatively few developed, what is quite improbable in the big resorts of any place of the Costa del Sol. Although nowadays it is constructed very much, here it is still possible to find the typical Andalusian whitewashed houses adorned with geraniums and with sinuous streets in the old helmet. And simultaneously also there are very good beaches
The most visited coves are those of The Cañuelo and Cantarriján (naturistic beach) belonging to the province of Granada), The Cove of the Pine, The Alberquillas, The Cove (Maro) and of course the beach OF THE MILL OF ROLE, ( exactly 50 metres under the house) All of them are characterized by his still crystalline waters, the marine wealth and also by his difficult access. Some of them are stony beach, sandals needed.
In Nerja they are acquaitance : Burriana, Torrecillas, the Playazo, and others like Calahonda and Lounge( under the Famous Balcony of Europe). Some of them rewarded with the Blue Flag of European quality.
The historical centre that began along with the Balcony of Europe, was constructed about 1487. Ancient Castle of the 9th century, it is now a lookout on the sea. Next to the Balcony, there is the Church of El Salvador constructed in the 17th century, of style baroque - Mudejar. He can visit also the chapel of Our Lady of the Anxiety with paintings of the teacher Alonso Cano.
Nerja also is an active people with many good restaurants, bars of covers and good night ambience. To go shopping in the diverse shops of craft and local products.
Maro is a small district of Nerja who basically lives of the agriculture and of the tourism, It is a calm, very clean, traditional place, with small business and where every time there are more foreign residents. For his fertile ground the horticultural cultivation abounds and of tropical fruits. With a privileged environment where the nature and the sea melt.
Maro is famous for his cliffs and coves, but also for the famous Caves of Nerja, which were discovered in 1.959 by a few children who were playing in the surroundings. It is rich for his archaeological deposits and stony formations. It is a forced visit if it is close: it will remain impressed not only on having seen the rock paintings, human remains or of tools, but for the quantity and sizes of stalactites and stalagmites. This cave marked one earlier and one later in the tourist development of Maro and of Nerja.
It is the ideal place to rest. Activities like cycling, to mount on horseback, excursions 4x4 for the nature reserve but especially much indicated who does senderismo, I dive, surfing and in general lover of the nature.

This was a perfect location for a stress-less vacation for my wife and I. The accommodation was clean and well maintained. The lounge and kitchen area were comfortable and well-appointed. The major plus for this property is being able to walk out onto the large terrace with its panoramic views of the sea and west towards Nerja. A car is essential for food shopping with the property situated in the National Park just outside Maro. With the car it takes 10 minutes to Nerja, 45 minutes to Malaga and an hour to Granada. We would definitely pay a return visit. |
