The Costa del Sol region

The surrounding countryside is filled with whitewashed, sleepy Andalusian villages and orchards scented with ripening oranges and lemons. Frigiliana, a 15 minutes drive from Nerja, is one of Andalusia’s most picturesque hill top villages. From here there are wonderful views over the surrounding valleys and out to the coast. The world famous Nerja caves are natural archaeological caves containing the world’s largest column. Each year it hosts the International Music Week and the Festival of Dance and Music. Inland, Lake Vinuela is well worth a trip to see this beautiful blue lagoon surrounded by the mountains. Granada and the Alhambra Palace are just over an hour’s drive away and the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada just 20 minutes from there. Take the scenic coast road east to Marina del Este, a bustling little port and then on to Almunecar whose Friday market is very popular. Visit Almunecar's new aquarium or the bird park with its many species of exotic birds. West from Nerja is Torre del Mar a busy town with a vast beach and elegant promenade.
The Nerja / Tropicana area
Nerja, bustling by day and by night, has all the facilities of a modern resort, charming but lively with its twisting alleyways, lined with family owned shops and excellent variety of restaurants. Nerja has several popular beaches with lively bars and restaurants whilst others are quieter and more secluded with rock pools in which to explore marine life. The atmosphere in Nerja is that of time having stood still. Some of its streets are still cobbled and, in the surrounding countryside, you can see teams of oxen ploughing the fields. At the same time Nerja has all the facilities of a modern resort. Nerja is, of course, a paradise for water sports; swimming, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, water-skiing and fishing are all available. Nerja boasts many small coves between the Balcon de Europa and the very popular Burriana beach, a place in which to indulge oneself in the famous paella dish. See it being cooked over the beach fire at Ayo‘s restaurant, one of our favourite places to eat. Enjoy watching the flamenco dancing whilst you eat your meal on Wednesday evenings in high season. For walkers there are many way marked walks taking you along the coast or inland.

There are five other courses within an hour's drive
Ski details - The massive and beautiful Sierra Nevada lines Granada’s horizon to the south and is for the most of the yearsnow capped. Wonderful skiing in the winter months around the popular Solynieve mountain resort on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada. A good road takes you to Granada in under an hour
and from here the Sierra Nevada is well signed. A road , which winds through an arid mountainous landscape before it climbs to an altitude of 3398m, a feat which has earned it the name of the highest road in Europe, brings you to the Pico de Veleta where you can take in the breathtaking views. Built for the 1992 Winter Olympics, this is a very popular venue for skiing lovers.

This is an absolutely wonderful villa, which looks even better in real then on the photos! Very spacious, a nice kitchen with everything you can wish for (we didn't cook much, but when we did everything was there), 2 bathrooms with lots of storingspace, and 2 bedrooms with build-in wardrobes. Excellent. Apart from that a huge terrace (in fact even bigger then a regular garden in Holland) which overlooks the mountains and the Mediterrenean. It was bliss most mornings to wake up early enough to see the sunrise above the mountains - breathe-taking. The swimmingpool is not as huge as you often see in those big resorts, but certainly big enough to have a proper swim and the Tropicana beds are very comfortable. The bar has a different activity on the programme each night (for example a Parrot show and an Indian cuisine night) - with some very friendly barstaff. It is a lovely walk from Tropicana to the centre of Nerja - we walked along the beach and it took us about 25 minutes to the Torrecilla Beach. If you decide not to walk along the beach but by the main road, you will pass the donkey-sanctuary. Go and have a look and feed them, it makes them more then happy. And don't forget to visit the caves and Granada! Nerja itself is super - lots and lots of lovely restaurants, shops, streetartists, live music - and from the Balcon you can see the most stunning sunsets. In fact, being very much Portugal lovers, we never expected it to be this nice - but we had a fantastic time, thanks to Richard and Judy who let us hire their villa. And yes, we already promised ourselves we will come back here! |

Very comfortable appartment with a great balcony that overlooks the sea and mountains. Would strongly recommend car rental as the development is a couple of miles outside Nerja. |
Guestbook for Bella Vista
Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know what a wonderful time we had at your Nerja apartment. The apartment was perfect and was everything you claimed. We especially enjoyed the large terrace as it gave us plenty of room to sunbath and enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains and down to the sea. We used some of the restaurants you recommended and found them to be very nice indeed. The Tropicana pool and bar was very good, perfect for a cooling dip after some serious sunbathing, although you did need to be there early to get a sunbed. We loved Nerja itself and found the locals very friendly and helpful, We all hope to return one day and didn't want our holiday to end. Thanks for all your help in makeing our holiday one to remember.

This apartment was as described - only nicer!! The information provided by the owner prior to our stay was informative and most helpful. The owners were prompt in answering any questions we had. The property was clean and as pictured on the website. We used the pool area every day during our stay. It, too, was well-maintained and enjoyed by all. We found the location convenient to driving into the Balcon de Europa area for shopping and dining out. All in all, we'd recommend this property to another family or couple for a beautiful week on the Mediterranean! A terrific week!

We had a fab holiday and have become very passionate about Nerja and its surrounding area especially Granada and its breathtaking Alhambra Palace. We spent many hours on El Playazo beach experiencing many glasses of "Beer Grande", jugs of sangria and numerous skewered sardines. We loved it down on this beach and enjoyed the locals at this family run bar whilst our girls prefered the Tropicana pool and the cafe bar and their independance! Your property was first class, very well equipped, clean and spacious. Although we didn't cook much at the villa the facilities were excellent. Thanks for letting us have your lovely villa.
