The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
Nerja and Frigiliana are on the Costa Del Sol, known locally as the 'Tropical Coast'. With a backdrop of hazy blue mountains, the beaches are all 'Blue Flag' and this part of Anmdalucia is probably the most unspoilt in the whole of Southern Spain. The Balcon de Europa in Nerja is a spectacular promenade standing along the edge of a towering cliffside, which once was the site of a great Moorish castle, which has evening street entertainment every night. The whole area is delightful and ideal for families. Granada with its wonderful Cathedral and Alhambra Palace is only an hour away.
Nerja / Frigliana Countryside area
Nerja is renowned for its beaches, mountains and hill walking. Burrianna Beach is the typical beach destined for the enjoyment of the whole family, with restaurants shops and aquatic sports. The world famous Ayo's restaurant is on the beach where Ayo cooks a huge paella 365 days a year and has been the subject of several television programmes. The beauty of the location is of course the fact that in ten minutes you can go up to Frigiliana and get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the tranquility and spectacular scenery. The 'Caves of Nerja' are a must to visit. The huge caverns being one of the largest caving systems in Europe, where part has been transformed into a concert hall, hosting International events throughout the summer.
How to get there
Many airlines use Malaga Airport, including BA, BMIBaby, Easy Jet and Thompson Fly. Only 40 minutes from Malaga Airport.
