Nerja is unspoilt by high-rise holiday development and retains its unique Andalusian character of whitewashed houses, windows with grilles, roof with two slopes etc. Nerja is not just a summer resort; it retains its unique charm all year round claiming the best climate in Europe. This is in part due to the surrounding Almijara mountains with its pine-clad slopes which shelter the resort and provide stunning views and ideal countryside for walkers. Nerja boasts many small coves reached by walking the Paseo de los Carabineros from Burriana to the Balcón.
How to get there
Only a forty-minute drive from the Málaga airport, Nerja is accessible via the old N-340 coastal road, or via the newly-constructed four-lane motorway the "Autovía del Mediterraneo". Taxis are easily available at the airport or you can take a bus from Malaga.
